Yeah, it was kind of tongue in cheek without regard to the realities of making it happen.
But I do think there's some truth to it as well.
Jimmy G. to Packers. I think if the Packers can't retain Rodgers, this is a perfect fit. Jimmy is like 75% of Rodgers; his game overlaps a lot with Rodgers game. He loves those timing patterns over the middle and is accurate on the underneath stuff. Obviously, he doesn't have that big time needle threading capability and he's less accurate, but if you're the Packers and believe you can still win now, I love the fit there. Gotta remember that Shanahan and LaFleur (and McVay) are all linked together with their offense, so a QB who can run one should be able to run another.
Brady to 49ers. This is a perfect fit, in my opinion. My goodness, would that offense be terrifying with Gronk and Kittle, plus Deebo Samuel. They work from the inside out which is more effective for Brady, and Shanahan loves the quick decision making and accuracy. I don't know if those two would clash, though, only because I think Shanahan loves the scripted plays and Brady is more of an instinct guy who reacts to the defense instead of locking in on a first read. My guess is they'd dominate, though.
Trey Lance / Jordan Love. I think we can put these guys into a category of ideal for a team looking to rebuild and start from scratch. Not sure if Love is really bad; that Chiefs defense was #1 in the league over the second half, and it was his first start. Lance is still an asset who teams might trade one first round pick for.
Just saying, there's some pretty interesting possibilities in the works with the Bucs-Packers-Niners, who are all facing questions at QB. Throw Russell Wilson into the mix, too. Most likely, no one will change teams, as usual, but hey, I'm just here to come up with unlikely scenarios to amuse myself.
