OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Coupled with reports that Brady wanted say in roster moves

Even if those claims are true, isn't it likely that such "say" would be limited to things like "I took a lot less than I could have, now make sure we keep Welker"? And, given what was said in Dante's recent interview, doesn't that make sense?

These last 2 years have been eye opening for me. I really didn't expect things to crater the way they have for the Patriots. I always knew Brady was the biggest reason for the dynasty but I didn't realize just how much. His ability to elevate and get the team to buy in is second to none. I have never seen a Pats team as dispirited as they were on Saturday night.
Crater? Hyperbole much.
Last 2 seasons, especially backing into the post season is NOWHERE NEAR cratering.
Did you think that the Patriots had a strong young roster without TFB? No way I did.

I agree with the dispirited Saturday night non-performance. Nightmare memories of the 2009 listless team. **** happens.

It was a nightmare. But like everything we have to look at the season as a whole. I thought we'd finish 9-8, yet we made the playoffs with a rookie QB. There's holes to fill and a lot of work to do. I wouldn't consider us contenders next year either, but in 2023 I expect us to be in the final four.

Didn’t the Celtics fire their coach because Larry wanted it?

File this under "Things that should matter when evaluating QBs for the MVP vote, but pretty much never do":

Brady plays on D now? Wow.

Given how BB keeps playing N'Keal Harry... maybe they should have given Brady more say on roster moves.

Huh? Brady played against much harder defences overall compared to Rodgers, which the Rodgers b××lwashers don't factor. They also don't factor all the comebacks, the Tds, the yards, the injuries, and with those injuries the Bucs are a .500 team without Brady. In fact these bxxlwashers are only really factoring interceptions.

The comparo was with Top QB's, not top D's, so...

There's a chance but Kelce only has 9.

It will depend on which team goes further in the playoffs this year.

And depends on how much longer Brady and Gronk plays together.
I give it a 90% chance for next season.
50% chance for the 2023 season.
5% chance for the 2024 season. If Gronk can be mostly injury free, I can see him playing this as his last season but Brady will most likey be retired.
Mahomes' cap hit is going to eventually break up that dynamic duo, IMO.

Correction. The idiot fraud OC Josh McDaniels keeps playing draft bust binkies like NKeal Harry. Which demoralizes the entire team.

.

The cap hit will never stop him from having talent around him. The only thing that will stop it is the present guys aging out and not being able to scout out who to replace them.

Mike said the same thing before the Eagles game so they may have something up their sleeves..

That was my prediction too for the 2021 Pats. 9-8 and fall just short of the playoffs. But at least in the playoff hunt all season which wasn't the case in 2020.

I'll probably predict the same record for 2022 depending on how the roster shakes out. The only question is will BB still be head coach of this team by the time they're ready to make a real Super Bowl run again? Judging by what he's said in the past my guess is no.

Confirming Bruce Arians was fined $50k by the NFL for slapping the helmet of S Andrew Adams during Sunday’s game. Arians said he was trying to prevent Adams from getting a penalty.

#Bucs coach Bruce Arians said he will appeal the $50,000 fine for swiping the helmet of safety Andrew Adams. "It ain't go nothing to do with the game,'' he said, declining further comment.

#Bcus coach Bruce Arians said not practicing was Cyril Grayson, Ryan Jensen, Ronald Jones, Sean Murphy-Bunting, Breshad Perriman, Jason Pierre-Paul and Tristan Wirfs. It was a walk-though practice.

Arians again mentions former Cardinals WR John Brown today, saying he's someone who just joined the team less than a week ago but could be suiting up on the field Sunday vs. Rams.
