OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

For those who are incredulous because some people would still take AB back, let me drop a truth bomb on you. The Brady Bucs:

With Brown: 16-3
Without Brown: 11-6

The 2021 Brady Bucs:

With Brown: 7-0
Without Brown: 5-4

If he didn't lose it during the game, I would be fine with him being back. But how you can trust him during the playoffs not to spazz out?

I'm not coming down on either side of this, precisely because of the human element. AB is taking the position inherent in your question, and the players haven't really weighed in on it, so I don't know where they stand. But we've all probably known a guy who flipped out on us, but got it back together after that. I've known several.

You may enjoy this. I just read the following article from Wetzel on why Brady might have been so sympathetic toward Brown. This is a really good take - Brady has seen 3 teammates take their lives over his career. If there is anyone who understands the effects of CTE, it is Brady.

Here’s the thing. Is it likely that everything with Brown was hunky dory with the team until that exact moment where he lost his mind? It’s certainly possible because he is well documented as being unstable and impulsive. If it’s the case then it is unquestionably a really bad loss for him to now no longer be playing.

But I find it far more plausible that there was simmering drama with him behind the scenes, obviously the vax card fiasco but probably with the injury as well. Brady since this happened has honestly not come across as someone lamenting his absence, he’s lamenting that Brown is in a really bad place mentally/spiritually/whatever. That is completely different to 2019 when Brady was PISSED the team cut Brown.

So if Brown had been a nuisance behind the scenes for weeks, getting into drama not only with coaches but allegedly Brady and Gronk? It’s reasonable to say they might just be better without him because that’s untenable.

Exactly. He only has to keep it together for 1 to 4 games.

It all comes down to what the heck is Brown's mental state at? Outside of the Buc coaches, Brown, and those close to him, none of us knows. So all the rest of us just don't have the information to judge whether the Bucs should take him back or not.

It also could be moot cause Brown might have no desire to come back either.

Bucs would be dumb to release him right now. You stash him somehow until season's end.

So what are we thinking here? Are they stashing him so no one else can sign him? If so, smart.
I think thats the case. Another reporter said a team was interested in signing him I believe Josina Anderson

So maybe a trade? I can't imagine a non-playoff team trading for him. And I don't think the Bucs trade him to a playoff team.

Brown can't be traded. The deadline's well behind us, and he's a FA after this season.

This could probably go as a main board thread, but it'll likely get more intelligent discussion here, so here goes:

Chris Simms Really Nailed that Top 40 Quarterback List - Crossing Broad

Ya was just looking at his social dudes not coming back

I don’t even understand how this would work. If they release him after the last game, how does the waiver wire even work? It seems that a team could claim him and literally owe him zero. Without postseason games, couldn’t, say, the Broncos just claim him to **** block the Chiefs and Chargers? And pay him nothing and control his contract until free agency begins?

then why the hell did Brady want him on the Bucs? If he cares so much for Brown, why didn’t he tell him to hang up his cleats before things got worse? So he can pad his ring total? Brown’s CTE issues have been known for a while. It’s not like they suddenly appeared. Gimme a break…

I think Stroud makes good questions and also I do believe Tom cares about AB off the field.
