OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I think covid may wreak havoc on the rest of this season.

Well, looks like we may have to play them again, so I'm pumping up my Tampa Bay Schmucks hate

I would point and laugh at them for stupidly destroying their iconic, classic, uniquely appropriate to the region represented, established for decades awesome uniforms and replacing them with hideous impostors...

but, you know, I can't throw stones.

I just saw the Mike Evans OT PI and it's the same thing that the Raiders did to Dallas to win that game. I don't like these calls in general. If someone wants to spew that this is about "bucs getting calls' then I won't engage in that BS because it's being called in many games but you can't let QBs take advantage of these. That looked like the call in the huddle was to get a PI with a low risk throw on a defender that doesn't turn his head around.

I would disagree. Being the top seed and the #1 defense is great, but KC has an offense that is miles better than anything in the AFC right now. HFA against them in a potential AFCCG is helpful, but I don't think it's going to scare Mahomes or even the Titans with Derrick Henry. And as you said, Mac needs to step up his game and prove he can play against the best teams in the biggest moments.
Kc has an offense which has that potential to be. But they have been crap for months now. KC’s defense is what has been winning them games the last several weeks.

Bucs’ Shaq Barrett now has nine sacks, exceeding his season total of eight last year. He has 36.5 in three seasons in Tampa — more than Warren Sapp or Lee Roy Selmon in their best three-year runs, behind only Simeon Rice (42.5). More Bucs takeaways here:

Bucs running back Gio Bernard suffered a knee and hip injury on same play Sunday, so he has a sprained MCL in addition to the hip. Should be a multi-week injury, not necessarily IR. Ke’Shawn Vaughn steps up as third back. @TomPelissero was on it first.

Bernard might be on his way to retirement after the season. Lots of leg problems. It’s too bad because he’s such a natural receiving back. If Fournette hadn’t transformed into a multi-threat force, they’d have the same issues that plagued them last season.

The two areas where they sucked until after Thanksgiving in 2020: running backs (Jones, Fournette) were horrible at receiving and their screen pass execution was a joke…all kinds of drops, missed blocking assignments, etc. Now that quick screen to Godwin is one of their best plays.

At least if the Rams lose it’ll be funny seeing Stafford and McVay fail again.

If there is a 3-way tie between Tampa bay, green bay, and Arizona how does the seeding work?

Green Bay wins any tiebreakers due to conference record, whether 2 way or 3 way. Then Tampa. So if the Cardinals lose, Tampa is #2.

I think NFL tiebreakers beyond head to head is a stupid method. It really should be overall point margin, which rewards the better team. It’s so random that one loss happened to be to an AFC team. I understand why it exists because the seeding is within the division/conference itself, but the conferences have similar teams and the it’s not like there’s different rules like in baseball.

Just ranting…

Thanks. That's what I thought but I wasn't sure if Tampa would be the number two. I agree that the tie break system is flawed. It should definitely be more in-depth than just conference record.

With 91 yard, Evans moved up from 67 to 62.

With 62 yard, Gronk moved up from 73 to 68.

Meanwhile, Kelce fell further behind and won't catch Gronk this year.

It's looking like OBJ was right. He might not be washed up after all.
