Bill Belichick appreciation thread

Ok he refused to pay Brady $25m for 2 years, which was super cheap for a guy like Brady, and was in effect a slap in Brady's face and hence he gave Brady no choice and effectively pushed him out.

Brady is the #15th highest paid in NFL. Firmly middle of the pack. And half of the starting QBs below him are on rookie contracts. Brady is cheap. And for that puny cost you get the NFL MVP. Brady is super awesome value and cheap as chips.

In effect BB pushed him out by not agreeing to pay $25m.

I want to see Mac Jones' monster contract extension at $35-40m per year in a few years.
The problem with giving TB that money is he couldn't put a good team around him so what's the point?

It's all good. I saw you as a harmless not-funny person who had good intentions, but nope you actually bring nothing to the table. Go write some more limericks.

.
Indeed... I don't know what's funny in DKF land, as in, intentionally funny. But I know I can't compete at the howlers you come up with unintentionally. I mean, is your routine some kind of performance art project? Then you might actually need to call Lorne Michaels about a guest spot as the "self-hating pretend Boston sports media guy" or somesuch

Brady was not “middle of the pack” when he signed his two year 50 million dollar deal. He is middle of the pack now in 2021 because he reworked his deal this off-season to keep this Tampa roster intact and kicked a bunch of his cap debt down the road. He was a free agent in 2020 and chose to leave.

The Pats are getting similar QB production from a rookie making peanuts and they have an incredible team around him specifically because they didn’t continue to borrow to sign Brady. But hey, don’t let facts get in the way of your fandom.

Patriots gave Brady a blank check to keep him!?!?!?!?!? Revisionist history much? Come on!!
What will it take sounds like a blank check to me.
Brady responded with “ I’m gone”

"A decision was made". Thanks for clearing that. I agree with you. A decision was made to let Brady go. Thanks for clarifying. Ring 6 seemed to be under a misapprehension.
The decision was made ultimately by Brady.

This chart is absolutely sick! Clearly shows dominance on both sides of the ball.

From:
That looks like a 11-1 team instead of an 8-4 team. Which they almost are anyway…

Like I said, it's all good. Keep trying really hard and not actually being funny. To each their own.
You keep not trying and all and being funny as hell. Your turn.

Lol pretty much every thread ends up here at this point.
It totally does.

Part of me thinks BB is a victim of his own longevity.

I believe if he was here from just 2000-2008 we wouldn't have any BB bashing whatsoever.

The problem is we have 21 years of mistakes he has made to point to.

Wait. You sound like you are implying you bring something to the table.

Props to Bill for writing the ship.

I can't knock him for us getting injury luck. As long as they clean up the season I guess.

Bill built the 2021 team mostly with players no one saw being this dominant. I’m pretty shocked and can admit I didn’t see a lot of the talent, which is emerging now as players gel and figure out where they fit in.

People cite the 2001 team a lot, but this team reminds me a lot of the 2010 team. They hit their peak around the same time and were blowing everyone out, completely steamrolling them. That team also had a lot of players whose value we didn’t yet realize, and they were coming off a disappointing 2009 campaign. It was another case of “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

Hopefully this team will have better postseason success, but that 2010 team also laid the foundation for 8 consecutive conference championship appearances
My take at the beginning was that the defense could hold the team together until the offense got there, but I didn't think it would happen so fast. They've exceeded my expectations.

He drafted Brady, Matt Cassell, Jimmy Garappolo, Mac Jones and he's lucky. Meanwhile, the Jets haven't gotten a QB in forever.
Fans always leave out player development and coaching as crucial aspects to nurturing talent so it delivers results.
