Quote the Patriots' Play: STFU negative nancies

Some people do call it like it is. But others want this team to fail. If there are homers who will spin every negative into positives no matter how much it stretches reality, then there are haters who will do the same in the opposite direction.
That's every forum - sports or otherwise. Extremes on both sides.

I get that. Although I think this board is different because of Brady. What other board actually has an active forum with fans following another team and are some are even more invested in that team than they are in the team they were fans of for their entire life? Do you think Broncos fans have message boards with forums dedicated to the Rams or the Texans having one for the Cardinals? This is an unique situation.

I always chuckle when I read sentences like this because it reminds me of all the talk how Peyton would have won 8 rings if Bill was his coach and Brady won in year one at age 43 with Peyton's former QB coach. LOL
Chuckle all you want. What's posted here is the truth - at least from my own experience.

Peyton would not have won more with BB than Brady did, but I never said any such thing.

My guess is that iwthout BB and Brady, Bill would have gotten a couple, and Brady, if he ever got the chance, would have gotten a couple.

The forum is noticeably less divided since the Bucs-Patriots game. Tom and Bill dissolved much of the tension with their comments. Wickersham’s book was a nothing burger.

It is a unique situation though. Brady is the greatest football player in NFL history. His accomplishments are beyond legendary. He is also an inspirational player because of his journey to greatness as a 6th round pick so people like myself are not just fans of him but have also been inspired greatly by his career.

I do think it is a unique phenomena right now because Brady is still playing and every time he steps on the field, history is being made. I will fully admit I am more vested in seeing if he can repeat with Tampa than I am in the Patriots this season. That being said, now that we are starting to come together and look like a potential playoff contender, I am following the Pats much more closely.

I also have admitted in the past, that I do think after Brady retires, I am done following the NFL. I really hate the product on so many levels from the rules, to the shady officiating, to the expanded season. It is not an appealing product anymore but I do want to see Brady finish things out and see what else he possibly could add to the greatest resume in NFL history.

But that was my point. You said it was every forum. This unique. There are people who hate Belichick because of what happened to Brady and they are almost openly rooting for him and this team to fail. And they have been overly critical of Jones too. It isn't every person who are rooting for Brady and the Bucs, but there are a handful of people who feel that way.

Figure of speech. If anyone can salvage crap talent, it’s Tom, but there’s always limits if it’s bad enough. Also, I still believe his elbow was a problem in 2019, even though there were so many other issues with that offense.
Yes. There are limits.

I was more talking about the extremes being normal for forums. But absolutely there is a unique phenomena to what is happening right now with the Patriots and Brady. But I think that was always going to be there when he left us which is why I was always hoping he would retire a Patriot.

Colts forums were similar when Peyton left and went to Denver. Many Colts fans were openly rooting for him to succeed in Denver and hoping the Colts would stink without him. Human nature I guess.

I'll take your word on it with the Colts' fans. I never followed the Colts' boards, but they were rooting for the Colts to lose to get Andrew Luck. I am not sure they were rooting against the Colts because they were upset that the Colts let Manning go.

Several of you Brady Bunch guys have said the same thing. Nothing wrong with that. You're Brady fans. But don't pretend to be Patriots fans.

Whose pretending? If I was pretending, I would not have posted what I did. LOL

Well said. They really, really, really need to fire Bowles.
I'm not sure Bowles is the scapegoat. Their D has major holes. Could wizards like BB, Monte Kiffin, etc do better? Probobly.

Blitzing on almost every down has me pulling my hair out.

So… everyone is on board with guaranteeing a Super Bowl victory this year? Let’s hear it. If not, then why do you hate BB and the team so much? Why don’t you go root for the Bucs?

Colts boards had active threads all the time for the Broncos when Manning went there. I just don’t think that the grown adult men posting there who whined and cried enough about it to the admins that they needed to dedicate their own board to it.

EDIT: This thread, which the OP clearly thought about in his head for at least a few days (if not weeks), reminds me a lot of your all-time great thread “Let’s hear it for the homers!” That thread was always a good one to revisit after a tough loss… which came two weeks later to the Jets in the playoffs where many of the warts the “haters” and the “chicken littles” talked about for the entire season were exposed on national television. I may have to pull that one up in case people aren’t sure what I’m referring to.

You’re thinking of baseball though. Occasionally an NFL player will sign a one day contract with a former team for some symbolic reason, but it really doesn’t matter. In baseball, the player designates the team he’ll rep primarily in the Hall of Fame. In football, it doesn’t work like that. There’s really no reason to retire with the Patriots unless he’s playing for another season.
Yeah, no I'm not. NFL's Sign-and-Retire Club - Sports Illustrated

I have never had a problem with a Brady thread on this board. The number of Brady or anti-Belichick threads on this board got out of hand at times and they needed to be combined into a catch all thread, but otherwise I don't care if people talk about Brady on this board. I know you guys mention that people complained to the mods, but I am unaware of the details and don't want to get involved.

And I don't care if people are negative about this team as long as they are not doing to push their agenda. Again, there aren't many people who do it, but they can be insufferable when they do.

And my "let's hear it for the homers" was clearly in part tongue in cheek because people pummeled the board homers for being optimistic about the team. But it says something about you that you are tracking things I wrote in 2011. BTW, the Pats went 14-2 in 2010 and just come off two massive blow out wins in a row when I posted that. I was talking about the people before the season and early in the season who claimed the Pats lost it and were going to suck.

Last year was the year to suck it up and take the salary cap pain all at once. I never figured out why people could not accept that. They were doomed last year with or without Tom Brady. I enjoyed it more without Tom because if he had been on that salary hell team he would have whined insufferably about the talent around him.

This year has been awesome. 3 of they 4 loses have been very close games and they played very tough against the defending SB champions the Bucs. It reminded me of the 2001 Patriots loss to the Rams who were the greatest show on turf and the anointed SB favorite. The Patriots lost but the team saw that they were right up there with the Rams. Then the Patriots also lost but played very tough against the Cowboys.

I don't know what the result of 2021 will be but this is a very hard hitting likable team. This is a real treat from a season people were not expecting much off. Hats off on getting away from Cam which would have ensured a mediocre season. They took a risk that would pay better dividends in future seasons. That it is working out now is just icing on the cake.
