Aaron Rodgers positive for COVID (update: “furious” status leaked, claims he didn’t lie, attacks NFL protocols)

Idk if this post is so much a covid related point or a human nature point but...

It's funny all the criticism he's getting for "lying" or not being fully honest about his vaccination status, when people are called every derogatory name under the sun for not wanting to be vaccinated.

It's like being mad at a ginger for dying his hair black because everyone criticizes redheads for having no souls. Which they don't
To be fair, this has given me a new sense of respect for the honesty of guys like Cousins and Beasley.

Now I'm reading rumors that he was in Canada with his fiancee and might have gotten vaccinated with the AstraZeneca one there. That one is not FDA approved but it is approved and used in Canada and the UK.

That one is also not listed in the NFL protocols so it is still definitely a violation of NFL rules...

I was curious what the consensus was among you folks regarding Rogers. I can't stand him. What I find amazing is that a multi-billion dollar company, possibly trillions, has no monitoring system in place to track who has and hasn't been vaccinated. I don't buy that. Does anyone else find it questionable that the NFL is taking someone's word for whether they have been vaccinated or not?

The NFL is certainly not a fair and unbiased organization, but if, say, an objective mediator were brought in to look at this violation and base it on previous precedent, and in fact Rodgers has violated all these protocols, this should amount to losing an entire draft and forfeiting the Arizona game on account of him being an ineligible close contact.
I just can't stand him - so I won't feel bad regardless of what happens. The irritating part is if this potentially derails their season (or worse), you know the time is probably coming for the Packers to move on from him and they'll likely send him out of the conference.

Granted, with the Packers, the Patriots have won two of the last three meetings, but if he ends up either within the Division (can you imagine if Miami got him?) or a team they'd face more often, it still obviously would be another thing they'd need to deal with.

This is really bad news for the Pats. Chiefs have the same record as us. I really want them buried if at all possible.
Chiefs Ravens and Browns still have to play the Packers this year.

I want them buried too, because I hate them. But I was never really convinced that they weren't going to come back to win that division, especially now that the Raiders are falling apart one by one, the Broncos were sellers at the deadline (and never realistically in it) and the Chargers are now 4-3. I think by season's end, we won't be competing with KC for a spot either way.

But again, F them, I hope Love shreds them and Mahomes throws 9 picks.

Here comes the spin... I told you the NFL would find a way out of this.

I don't think it was even like that. I think the NFL fully knew he was unvaccinated and decided to let him act like he was vaccinated all year. Arguably even worse.

As for why, I have no idea because it was so likely to blow up like it just did.

The NFL told him it is not approved. Jesus, this guy is such a contrarian *******. The US also has a non-mRNA, viral vector vaccine with J&J.

He goes to great lengths to prove he’s smarter than everyone.

Again, let me repeat this: the protocol for determining "close contacts" is specified, in writing, by the NFL. Players wear proximity trackers that allow teams to determine this. That's part of the reason why when Onwenu tested positive, Wynn ended up on the COVID list, but the other OLs didn't.

If Rodgers was, in fact, a close contact, then someone took active steps to hide it, and the team itself should be in a world of hurt. The more plausible explanation is that he didn't spend enough time in close proximity to trigger the rule.

Edit: As @Ice_Ice_Brady noted I had Wynn and Onwenu mixed up.

From Ian Rapoport:

"He has called himself immunized, which is not the same as vaccination. He has been wearing a mask inside the building, he has been following COVID-19 protocols, he has been undergoing daily testing. All the things you do if you are not vaccinated."

Here is where the NFL coverup/damage control begins. What about the things he did that you're supposed to do if you ARE vaccinated, which have been documented in this thread and elsewhere?

This may be a blessing in disguise for GB. They get to see Love against a wretched defense. I am interested to see how the team responds to him too. When he came in during the Saints game, they seemed to elevate for him.

What if he lights it on fire? Oh boy. That would be delicious.

Is anyone shocked and surprised that there might be AR rules and everyone else rules in Green Bay?

Both Wynn and Onwenu were put on the Covid reserve list at the same time. A reporter implied Wynn was unvaxxed while Onwenu was vaxxed.

Most likely what happened is this:
  • Onwenu tested positive
  • Wynn, unvaxxed, was designated as a close contact
  • The other o-linemen were vaxed and did not test positive
  • This is not because Wynn was the only lineman in proximity; it’s because he was the only unvaxxed player in proximity.
This is why positional groups with unvaxxed players can all go down at once. If they’re unvaxxed and someone tests positive, then they’re likely to be put on Covid list.

And this is why, as an unvaxed player, Rodgers is at extreme risk for being a close contact with Adams and Lazard, considering he was seen on television right next to them.

At some point, maybe someone will note that Aaron Rodgers rarely throws downfield (last game, one completion over 10 yards), the Packers are built around a dominant line and running game, and their receivers usually lead the league in YAC and separation yards. It will be hilarious if Love puts up a 40 burger on that Chiefs “defense.” I think an 8 point spread is an overreaction, though I think KC will win a high scoring game.
