OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Tom Brady out there with the other quarterbacks at practice today. It’s light enough a workout today there isn’t much throwing, but nothing to show a setback with his injured thumb. Wearing a glove on right hand.

Rankings will get tweaked a bit by tonight's game, but here's where the Bucs rank offensively after 5 games:
2nd total offense
3rd scoring offense
1st pass offense
26th rush offense
1st INT %
6th sack %
5th third downs
14th red zone

MVP race top 5:

Murray (Undefeated)
Herbert
Brady
Lamar
Dak

I don't know. Twitter and Facebook hadn't been invented yet back then.

I don't think people understand that the last 20 years were the exception to every rule for every pro sports team since at least free agency. The Pats were more successful than Bama has been with a fixed playing field. In 1997-99, we were happy when Bledsoe won with the pin in his finger against the phins. I mean playoffs, playoffs playoffs?!?! If the pats made the playoffs that was a great season. But by 99, Pete took a SB contender and crapped the bed. So he had to go. Plus if you weren't on usenet, you only talked around the water cooler in the office. Pre Parcells, you'd never even see the home games on TV either. Sar and Bob Jensen say hi!

With that, get off my lawn!

MVP Top 5 (no order)

Allen
Brady
Herbert
Prescott
Stafford

I don’t have Murray on here because he‘s been a below average QB his first two seasons. He did make a pro bowl and had a lot of highlights, but his actual efficiency has been sub-par. This year he‘s way above that. So I see him very likely to regress or he’s made a huge jump in his skill level. With the others, they can play at a high level consistently…even Stafford has been able to put up great stats over a full season.

Murray, Prescott, Herbert, and Allen are all narrative choices that the media would love (Especially Murray and Prescott).

There are only two QBs top 5 in yards, TDs and rating.

Yards: Brady > Stafford
TDs: Brady > Stafford
RTG: Stafford > Brady

Prescott is top 5 in TDs & Rtg
Murray is top 5 in Yds & Rtg
Herbert is top 5 in Yds & TDs
Allen is only top 5 in TDs

Brady never deserved the label System QB. He never was at any point.

Right now I think that label sticks a lot more for Mac, but that’s by design. He is playing within a system and we don’t know what he is yet beyond that.

My top 3 if I had a vote would be Brady-Allen-Herbert in that order.

I have a feeling though that Allen is really in first, as I think voters will give the “new guy” the benefit of the doubt if it’s close over the guy who’s won everything there is to win even if he’s still more deserving.

For sure Brady will have to do more to get it just like BB has had no shot for many years. Amazing how Chargers get an elite QB and now some dude we never heard of is a leading candidate for "coach of the year". Funny how that works.

Arians says it does not look like CB Carlton Davis will need surgery on his quad injury but there is no timetable on his return.

Bruce Arians said it will be "very, very,'' close whether Rob Gronkowski can play Thursday.

Antoine Winfield Jr., still is in concussion protocol but has a chance to clear it in time for Thursday's game, Bruce Arians said.

Arians said he thinks Tom Brady (thumb) will be ok for Thursday. May have been limited had they actually practiced today fully.

JPP played Sunday with a club on his injured hand, so I’d expect much the same Thursday. I’m not aware of any new injury. And yes, Kevin Minter steps in for Lavonte David at ILB.

Lol Brady isn’t winning the mvp when they can give it to one of these young guys and hype them

The only way is if he's flawless and the others fall off by the time the voting takes place and even then probably not. Who cares though really. It rarely goes to the right person but I guess that's a subjective call.
