OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Evans will pass Gronk either way so it doesn't really matter. Gronk is a TE and not a fake one like Kelce. Can't wait until he's back though.
But teammates are inwardly competing with each other too. When Evans, Gronk, AB, Godwin gets a TD or a big pass. They are happy, but underneath, they want to be the one to get the next one.

So when Evan's pass Gronk, I'm sure he'd want to be on the field to at least make it harder.

Well Bama has won 6 championships in basically 10 years which is technically better BUT it’s infinitely less impressive to win a college championship and stay good than win a Super Bowl and stay good.

Ya they are each trying to be the best but won't pout when others have success. The team is better for it.

That is the Brady factor. Think of the egos he is dealing with from Evans to Godwin to AB to Gronk. I mean to keep that whole thing chugging is such an example of his leadership. Brady knew at the end he needed to feed Evans to keep him feeling good. It really is what separates him as the ultimate leader.

That and Evans is really good

So how many radically different skill position groups and philosophies has Brady now won with? Because it’s like 4 or 5 now depending on how you want to separate them.

How about 4 1000 plus receivers?

Small chance with Gronk if he can come back healthy and stay healthy.

Smaller chance with Leonard Fournette, if he can keep playing like Playoff Lenny the rest of the season.

Tyler Johnson also shows potential but he won't get the chance unless there are any games missed by tr top 3 receivers.
No quadruple 1000 receiver teams. These are the avg ypg each receiver would need in remaining 12 games to get to 1000 (current avg ypg):

Evans: 51 ypg (78.6 ypg)
Godwin: 53 ypg (73.2 ypg)
AB: 56 ypg (81.3 ypg)
Gronk: 68 ypg (61.3 ypg)
Total: 228 ypg (294.4 ypg - 81% for all receivers)

These guys are catching 81% of the passes, so add 19% more yards to account for other receivers and they would need to pass for about 271 ypg. Brady is averaging 353.4 passing ypg.

Looking at the remaining opponents passing ypg allowed:

PHI: 195
CHI: 229
NO: 275
WFT: 293
NYG: 270
IND: 261
ATL: 244
BUF: 173
NO: 275
CAR: 162
NYJ: 249
CAR: 162
AVERAGE: 232

Brady would need to torch several of these teams for big yards to make it since some have decent Ds. Gronk's health is the big ?

Conclusion: possible but unlikely.

I'm surprised how good Philly has been pass D wise

Goedert is their #3 receiver with 2 TDs (out of 7).

Looked it up. Five teams did it. I think the most impressive has to be 1980 SD with the rules back then.

The 2000 Rams were pretty ridiculous too...I'm sure they could have gotten there if they had spread it out that way.
  • WR Torry Holt - 1635 yards
  • WR Isaac Bruce - 1471 yards
  • RB Marshall Faulk - 830 yards (plus 1359 rushing yards)
  • WR Az-Zahir Hakim - 735 yards

I cannot believe that the owner of the site really created a thread comparing the stats of Mac Jones to 1998 Peyton Manning.

It was silly for sure but we should be able to create whatever reasonable threads we want and that includes the dude upstairs. I don't agree at all that it means anything though. You need to compare him to starting QBs in the last 5 years if you are into that kind of thing.

Seeing as Winston is somehow playing well on the Saints doesn’t that just prove that the Bucs weren’t “just a QB away”?

No Brady is a system QB who can’t throw deep take it or leave it

So Jones for Watson? What say ye?

In a vacuum? A no brainer. This team would average at least 10 more ppg with Watson, and I think they’d go 12-5 or 11-6 at worst. AFC contenders. In reality, Watson’s legal situation, contract, and trade comp would make it a lot murkier.

I love Watson. His game, not the person. If we trade for him now then he gets suspended probably the rest of this season and then we are good to go in 2022. This year is a wash anyways with Jones.
