OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Bill is going to rush 3 and flood 8 into coverage. No way he lets Tom light them up. The Bucs will move easily between the 20s. The game will hinge on if they're scoring TDs or FGs
If we do that, Brady will hand off to Fournette and Rojo all night.

This is the kind of **** that has always worried me about players:

If he doesn't actually believe that, and he shouldn't, he should keep his mouth shut rather than basically painting a bullseye on his uniform. And, if he does actually believe that, the Bucs have a CB1 who's delusional and needs some help with his mental health.

The Bucs secondary is probably their weakest unit. They seemed to gel well last year late but it wasn't pretty for most of the season. I really hope the group takes a step forward this year. Having Winfield really helps but their corners are still young and growing.

Having elite cover linebackers is more valuable than corners in today’s league.

Gronk is going nowhere near 11 touchdowns
Here's why I think Gronk will get 11 TD. Gronk is in better game shape to start the year thus,
- Evan's had the majority of the red zone targets last year. I think more of those targets will go to Gronk.
- Brady and Gronk looked off at time last year. They will be more in sync this year and there will be alot less of those finger tip misses they had last year.

I don’t know why there’s a need to predict - for a guy like Curran - when the Patriots have the biggest unknowns in the NFL. QB, offense, and somewhat defense are complete question marks. I’ll wait until they’ve played at least one game.
Exactly, even the Patriots won't know if they're a good team or not until week 3 at the earliest.

Gronk’s only chance at 11 TDs is if the opposing defenses just are so keyed in on stopping the WRs that he’s always covered by their worst linebacker.

He had 7 last season, in a year where he had to re-condition on the fly, he did a lot more blocking than he might have to this year, the team took until 7-5 to get the offense together, and the team didn't start using the TEs, RBs, and SlotWRs to best (Brady) effect until after the break. I do think Howard has the potential to take some of Gronk's TDs from him, But Gronk's numbers would theoretically be higher after ironing out those issues from last season.

I'm not saying I think it's a guarantee that he'll get 11 TDs, But it's the bet I'd play as of now, given the state of the moving parts.

I really want Brady and Gronk to break Manning's and Harrison's TD record which I believe is 114. They already broke Montana/Rice post season TD record last year. So my hope is Gronk gets as many TDs as possible this year. Double digits would get them into the mid 90s.

Incredible to think what that number would be if Gronk hadn’t missed so many games and played hurt in a lot of them.

They might preserve or limit him until the playoffs which would limit his TD count.

I know. So many games. They also missed all of 2019 because Gronk took the season off.

That's going to be tough. They are both going to have to be healthy and play 3 more years for a chance.

We won't know until near the end of the 2022 season. If they played at a high level, then they'll be back.

Gronk was often double teamed in NE as the #1 or #2 target, and took quite a beating that contributed to his injuries.

In comparison, at TB he wasn't the focus of the defence with so much talent around him and at times looked barely touched when receiving.

They don't have any other good TE blockers so he'll be out there blocking a lot too.

I agree that Gronks reception total and receiving yards won't be high for his standards but I still think he will be used alot as a red zone threat. So he'll still have a high number of TDs.

I have no earthly idea how we are going to keep the Bucs to 23 without Gilmore. We may be down Wino too as there are rumors we are looking at trading him.

My hope is Mac is playing in that game and is fully healthy. I have a terrible feeling about his knee and getting Miami in week one is not a good match up. I think Flores is going to bring the sink and the bath tub at him. Of course, on the bright side, if he is able to handle it and make some plays on the blitz or recognize the coverages than I will have more hope going forward but I think the Tampa game is going to brutal no matter how you slice it. I am just glad it will be an NFC loss as that won't really hurt us in the standings tie breaker-wise.
Bucs play the AFC East this year so if they beat us but lose to Miami - that will hurt us in a common games tiebreaker if things play out this season as expected with NE and MIA battling for a wildcard.

I’d like our chances better if Gilmore was healthy and available. He did a decent job on Evans in the last matchup. I think Bill will absolutely try not to let Brady beat them even if it means conceding the run. We saw the same strategy before against Peyton manning and the Broncos offense.

Brady isn’t as incredibly stubborn as Peyton.

Him = Gronk
I believe that TFB is gonna target Gronk big time vs the Patriots in week 4.

Peyton got past that stubbornness. The game where the pats were down 24-0 at halftime against the Broncos then came back to win, Knowshon Moreno had over 200 yards rushing plus they had more yards from Montez Bell.
