OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Not sure where Sports Illustrated is getting 6 losses from. Unless they think an injury bug hits.

Buccaneers 2021 Predictions
11-6, Division Champions, 4th seed
Beat Saints in Wild Card
Beat Packers in Divisional
Lose to Rams in Championship

Chiefs beat Rams

Rams lost there starting CB/safety while being down Cam Akers now. Add in there division is extremely hard if doubt they’d get home field vs Tampa so I have no idea how they have Tampa loosing to them barring health

Tampa by two touchdowns easily even at full strength Tampa can Atleast slow down KC offense. KC has no chance slowing TB offense under if they are healthy, Godwin/AB would run wild on them that’s before getting to Gronk
Only 2? They could have won the SB by 30+ if they didn't decide to start running the clock out in the middle of the third.

KC reminds me of the 2000s Colts. Lose in the playoffs to a Pats team that carved them up and then spend on the offense in the offseason instead of the defense. I know KC needed to upgrade their tackles but why on earth would you spend that when you have Mahomes and not upgrade the defense which was embarrassed more than him?

Tampa's offense got better this off-season with the addition of Gio and KC is still stuck thinking about how to have more highlight reel plays.

Why is everyone so high on the Rams? Did they forget who Matthew Stafford is?

I think the Bears with Fields if he turns out to be decent as a rookie can give the Bucs more fits than the Rams

Deus - I just wanted you to know that I tell my Pats friends who also want to follow Brady to come to this thread because of you. The Bucs forums all stink. What you provide here is by far the best resource on the team. And what is great is we have such high football IQ posters commenting so you get the best of everything in one thread. So again, thank you.

The Bucs forums reflect the fan base of a small market team that before last season had only won once and it had been 18 years earlier. Not exactly good vibes going around.

True. And they do have beautiful weather. Somehow I think they find things to do on a Sunday afternoon other than watching football.

Week 4 officially without Gillmore.
This is really massive for us. 6 weeks without our best CB. With all the upgrades we made up front, to not have Gilmore is incredibly painful. We play so many good offenses this year. Tampa is terrible which we already knew but what about Buffalo? Diggs will torch us.

If you take the angle that Brady will decline some, that last year was aided the schedule, and that the defensive backfield is a weakness, it makes sense to think that you can find some losses. I'm not putting any numbers on it, but you can see the possibilities.

Week 1 is an oddity, with a team putting in a new defense, and a QB who's not been seen all offseason
Week 3 is on the road against the Rams
Week 4 is a second road game, against the Patriots, after a west coast week. Plus, Brady might be overanxious, or BB might spin a gem
They've got two games against the Saints, who owned them in the regular season last year
They face the Colts in Indianapolis
They face the Bills
Any given Sunday with the rest of the games

QB Ryan Griffin will be among the players released today by the #Bucs. They will go with Tom Brady, Blaine Gabbert and Kyle Trask. Griffin is a candidate to be signed to the practice squad.

This is correct. Players on the reserve/COVID list (Bucs have four) don't count toward the 53, so it's a bit of a loophole for teams. Bucs can basically cut to 57, let everyone go crazy with waiver claims, then make their final cuts in a few days, more likely to get guys to PS. twitter.com/Tzar_Marc/stat…

Count return specialist Jaydon Mickens and 2021 seventh-round draft pick Chris Wilcox among the more prominent players released as the Bucs continue whittling their roster to the required 53 players by today’s 4 p.m. deadline.

Other cuts confirmed Tuesday were cornerback Herb Miller, praised for his limited action (four games, one interception) in 2020; and receiver Travis Jonsen, a former college quarterback and member of last season’s practice squad.

Bucs are waiving defensive lineman Jeremiah Ledbetter. With everyone back from last year's line, tough battle for the depth spots there. Had one sack last year in limited playing time.

Bucs have waived offensive lineman Brandon Walton, who they claimed from the Steelers late in training camp. Played guard and tackle in preseason, so a good candidate to come back on practice squad.

So today's Bucs cuts -- think we had all of these first so far: TE Codey McElroy, WR Travis Jonsen, WR Jaydon Mickens, CB Chris Wilcox, CB Herb Miller. Still nine moves to get to 53 by 4 p.m.
