No-one would offer a unconditional 6th for Minshew? He will not start anytime soon in Philly either. So Minshew did not insist on the trade.

NFL radio says it gets upgraded to a 5th if Minshew plays more than 50% of the snaps in 3 games or more.

I don’t know why the Jags gave away a cheap competent backup for no real reason.

This is one of those trades that I'm not sure benefits anyone by a significant amount.

For the Jags, is a potential 5th round pick worth much compared to a competent backup QB for a kid who might be running for his life half the year?

For the Eagles, if Hurts is injured or doesn't work out, does Minshew keep you in contention (if you ever were in it) in a conference with the Bucs, Packers, and Rams? At least, does he do so THAT much more than Flacco did?

For Minshew, you've got a better chance of beating out Hurts than Lawrence, but you're still clearly not the starter, and now the team loses a higher pick if they even play you for THREE games, so you're basically only going in if Hurts gets hurt.

In totality, this feels like the most non-move move that could be made in the NFL.

Hurts may be the only starting QB worse than newton.

Tua looked really bad at times. If I was a Dolphins fan I would be concerned too. Maybe not Cam Newton bad, but not great, and the Dolphins passed on Fields, Lance and Jones.

Because there was no way in hell to keep Minshew. He had to go.

I think Flacco is either cut or #3 and will be cut when minshew has a couple weeks to learn the offense.
Nick Mullens has already been let go by the Eagles. If Flacco is on the 53 for the opener, his salary is guaranteed for the season. They’re planning to keep 3 QBs like most teams will in this 2nd Covid season.

Flaccos salary is 1.5 mill, that won’t guarantee him not being cut.
