Pats trade Sony Michel to LAR

Agreed. As much as I think it's time to move on from him, I get the feeling Harry makes the initial 53, then gets put on short term IR to start the season. So "his" spot should go to either Wilkerson or TBD cutdown from elsewhere. We need more kicks at the can at the back end of the WR and TE groups than we do at RB, IMO.
I'm OK with Asiasi. Also, we need to carry a FB.

But, yes, Belichick continues to look at TE's and WR's.

Yeah, but no. You’re not that clever.
Aww. Don’t be butthurt because you got triggered. Instead, look inward and ask yourself why that triggered you. It could be… liberating.

Your analysis supports the idea that Taylor is a backup 3rd down receiver. For me, that isn't a great use of a roster spot.
Oh, that post was total "hot take" - ultimately, I think Michel was much more all-around than either JJ or Rham. I wouldn't dispute that.

That said, taking some short term risk to increase future #s of picks is something the patriots have done a lot over the years - especially given they are not known for "safe" drafting of consensus picks, but instead formulaic to their own criteria which relies more on quantity given the high bust rate in all drafting.

Where does this mythology come from? Just simple jealousy?

NFL scouts get paid in the mid 5 figures. Their supervisor, the guys who manages all of the input from the scouts, makes about what a guy running a small plumbing business makes.
Fair but that’s still good money, send your kids to school money, etc.

My thing is Sony’s still GOOD. He’s no Harry. No Dowling. So we did get something out of that. Potential 4th too.

You seriously need to be banned. Claiming that BGC is a clown just goes to show how ridiculous you are. BGC has more intelligence and knowledge about Football in his right pinkie toenail than you have in your entire body.

YOU are the one who is embarrassingly wrong about Football 99% of the time.

YOU are the clown. And you're a POS LIAR who who has ZERO reading comprehension At no point has BGC dissed Mac or Barmore. Nor has BGC insisted that Trey Lance was the "Best QB in the Draft".

Seriously. You're a F'in TROLL and need to be permanently banned..
Yes the guy who calls everyone he disagrees with stupid, clueless, an idiot, or "a POS LIAR" is what more posters should aspire to be like.

Assuming his characterization of mid 5 figures is right that’s certainly not good money

Ooooh you got me! You’re such a smart fan!

Not sure if you know, but you are not required to reply to everyone.

This can be beneficial in situations where you have nothing good to say in return. For example:

Pretty much everybody has reported on his knee problems since the day he got here and watching him this year you can see they haven't improved. Your hilarious though. You absolutely hate him, hate him as a #1 pick but are also sure they got raped by getting a 4th for him in his walk year.
I did not ask about whether he had knee surgeries.

I asked how do you know that his knees are done. But of course, you cannot answer because you do not know.

The Pats got a 6th for a 1st round pick 3 years ago. That sucks. Yeah, Im going see that Brady was a 6th like that sort of thing happens all the time. NE gets a 4th in 2 year from now.

I think Stephenson is special and will be here for more than one contract. Feel like if we do anything in the playoffs over the next few seasons he will be a part of it, perhaps not Damian as I imagine he will want to get better $$ (I would) and we know he’s good.

Money. Can be injury prone. Reminder that we coulda had Chubb?

Or there's more to it than we know about.

I think this trade was all we could get out of it, what with his bone on bone issue in his left knee. Only going to be a matter of time before he starts missing games again. And I don't think we were ever going to give him a 2nd contract. His career lasting that long would be an outlier.

What is the category in which both Harry and Dowling reside?
Dowling had horrific luck in his last year in college with a grim injury, and like Gronk, that pushed him in to the second round, when he otherwise would have been a top 10 pick. He had a second tough injury early in his career for the Pats, but despite all that, fought back and managed to play in the League for several years, and then went on to coach and teach.

People here redirect their disappointment as somehow being about his character, or that the Pats blew the pick. If we don't take risks on the Dowlings of the world, we don't get Gronks. It is a numbers game.

Agree. He'll do some good things for a few months for the Rams, and then it will probably catch up to him. Hopefully, he'll get through this year and light the world on fire, and get a fat second contract, before the inevitable takes ahold. Good luck to him. Always a Patriot.

It is. A wee bit of research shows that NFL scouts make 45-90K, with most in the 60ish range. Given the tough travel schedule, it isn't exactly a lifestyle conducive to "send the kids to school" in the sense that just having kids, and/or seeing them once in a while, would be tough.

Most of the non players working for the Pats seems to make salaries equal to their counterparts in "the real world" - admins, coordinators, managers, etc. It is only at the very top of the coaching ranks that we see a big leap. Working for the Pats may be fun and pleasant and stable, but isn't going to get you rich.

That’s barely enough to have a kid and feed it, much less send a kid to college money.

Honestly, I find it disappointing. There's so much money flowing through that business, it wouldn't be hard to redirect some of it toward those guys. The difference between 60K and 90K can be life changing. It is sneezing money for half of the player roster.

Belichick still seems to have the old school, "starve for a few years and prove that you want it enough" mindset about the lower ranks. As someone of his demographic (straight white male Boomer) I get it, but it feels out of date and an unecessary hardship at this point. But what do I know.

No. He didn't trade a 1st for a 4th.. He traded a FORMER 1st for a 6th in 2022 and 4th in 2023.. And you're ignoring that they got 42 games out of Michel.
HAHAHAHA

Leave it to you to go around correcting people after the deal had been ruled illegal at 5:00 pm yesterday and changed by the NFL. 99% of the time these trades are open and shut. But, you knew all along and thats why you waited until 4:00 am to spread the word.

We'll see. It's obvious he wasn't in Belichick's plans.

He's done nothing but run really well, as good or IMO better than anyone else we have, since being activated last season.

This is another of those cases when I guess I hope I'm wrong. But if he's scoring more touchdowns in the Super Bowl while we're sitting home eliminated, I won't be watching.

Taylor might also become our primary KO Returner, on those rare occasions when a KO actually needs to be returned...
