Mike Lombardi: "Be Patient with Mac Jones" (no need to rush)

Yes, no NFL QB fighting for a job would minimize any lingering symptoms from illness, concussions, etc. to keep their job when on a “prove it” contract they got as a last option just before the season started.

And, if a QB DID blame a poor performance on a lingering hand-to-quantify (and poorly understood, especially last year) COVID brain fog, I’m sure that QB would be praised for their honesty as opposed to criticized for “giving excuses”.
So wait. You can argue why if something that didn’t happen actually happened it could miraculously be kept secret, so that’s proof it happened?
Wow.
So let me try. Newton bribed Belichick with $20,000,000 to not resign Brady and put him on the team and let him play. Of course no one would admit it. Since it’s unlike belichicks other decisions obviously there is a hidden reason. Is that how it works?

if he doesnt this year, it only means that Cam Newton has had an amazing season which is good for us also.

Don't say that too loudly, i almost get the impression that some are hoping for Cam to fail just so they can be right/see Mac Jones

Now that is a falsehood. Stop making stuff up. But then again I do understand you have memory issues...

He was the same player all year long who happened to have his best half against Seattle and their horrible defense.
it’s not even arguable. He had the same reaction, mechanics, decision making.

How bad are asymptomatic symptoms?

So now Cam was asymptomatic despite saying he himself said he had covid fog? And Malcolm Butler was using drugs which is why he was benched. Totally on brand.

This is definitely the case. Very toxic. And perverse. Pats are going to be 3-1 and some will be very quiet because they actually want Cam to play poorly. So messed up.

.

Double dipping the lying now.
You know I never said that I have called you out to find that post and you know you can’t.
now you are lying that newton said he had covid fog while denying he said he was asymptomatic.

Yes, it is you that are in brand, as a pathological liar.

No one would do that.

Of course. Nobody's going to defend Cam if he plays poorly. But it's unfair to assume Cam this year is going to be the same as no-receivers/TE, covid fog, signed-late Cam of last year.

The way Newton played last season it wouldn’t have mattered if he had Jerry Rice, Rob Gronkowski , Randy Moss and Barry Sanders around him, he sucked, period. A week ago he looked exactly the same. Thursday night Newton looked better but in no way do I trust that will remain the case. If he goes out and plays well and they are winning then letting Jones sit is fine, but if Newton returns to last years form and they start losing then they need to turn to Jones and let him learn on the job.

Agree brother. Cam backers believe the guy can and will do more than last year. If he doesn't, no one's gonna be stopping the Mac attack bandwagon, hell I've been driving it for a year.

.

Mac is a superb QB. He has a much better touch than Cam and can easily make all the throws. However I would prefer to see Cam start so that Mac can learn from the sidelines. Also it may give Mac a chance to heal that knee, if it is indeed gimpy. It certainly looked that way on his scramble, but he looked mobile in the pocket afterwards so maybe it is OK.

Cam did not have Covid fog…the comments he made were about falling behind with the offense/playbook due to missing time with asymptomatic Covid.

But it’s obvious he worded it to be used an excuse, as always, because that’s what he does. He missed a week…not a big deal.

I don’t make excuses! If I did, I’d say Covid, a shoulder surgery from 2016, and the pressure of big shoes to fill. But I’d never say that!

Why are we arguing that he did or didn't have covid fog? I've literally seen colleagues post-covid not even be able to pronounce words correctly for months. It's a thing. Why debate it as if we know or don't know how it affected Cam Newton ?

Yeah I like that. I dont make excuses.....sure I could say covid, or my foot, or my hats are too big, or the playbook is hard, but nope, I am not going to say that.

Because in order to use something as an excuse, it has to have merit. That doesnt. A lot of players had covid last year, some missed more than one week. I did not hear it for any of them. What I did hear was him and his dad saying he had zero symptoms. I haev not heard of any athlete say they were in a fog for 14 weeks after having covid. He would be the only one. As far as no training camp, no preseason, yeah nobody had that. The thing was Cam did not get better as the season went along, he got worse. To say it was the playbook or he didnt feel good, those things would get better not worse.

Yea right. Will be interesting to see you struggle as the Pats win with Cam but you don't want that to be happening.

.
What are your expectations of winning. You see superbowl? Late playoff run?

Yeah you have a lot of reasonable points. But this was one of multiple things. Zero tight ends last year. Crap WRs beyond Meyers. An OLine that was constantly injured, so many crappy backups starting last year. An OC who had no clue what play action was in the red zone. It wasn't just the time affected post-covid

Cam's own dad said he was asymptomatic, people are not making it up. lol

So you bring it up as a fact to support your agenda, get refuted by a direct article where Cam says there’s no symptoms, and then ask why we’re debating it? These are BS tactics.
