I think Mac is a competitive killer and a super nerd on the playbook, this kid will be good. Just don't get the rush to throw him to the wolves already. Brady himself said his body wasn't physically ready until his second year. This kid could be good for 15 years if he doesn't get screwed up by some short sighted thinking from media, and fans.

Sitting on the bench does nothing for him.
Brady was skin and bones, that has nothing to do with Jones.
What exactly is a "mentor type" if everyone's criteria for a mentor is basically different?I don’t think Cam is really the mentor type

Mentorship and leadership are similar in that they are different for just about everyone and often very difficult to strictly define. One person might gravitate toward "by example" mentors while others toward demonstrative "rah-rah" types while a third toward contemplative strategists.
One mentor does not fit all.
Why do insist on being stupid and implying anyone would root against the team.Mac has a chance to be the best from his draft class. Been saying this since before halloween. But waiting a year to grow physically stronger isn't a bad thing and also a QB has to be in total command of understanding how a defense is trying to take his head off on every play. I don't believe the QB position has changed such that rookies can come in and contend. Herbert put up stats but made a lot of mistakes and the Chargers lost a ton. Guys like Dak impressed then regressed. I guess it all comes down to what you think of Cam , I know what you think there. It'll be weird when BB chooses Cam as the Pats best chance to win in 3 weeks. Hope you end up still supporting the Patriots and not perversely rooting for poor play then.

I’ve heard the opposite. When Jones has made a bad play by all reports he takes responsibility and responds with good play. The one area where I think Mac can definitely learn from Cam (either through actual conversations, or just by watching him) is getting past bad plays. I know, insert joke here, you're all hilarious, but I'm serious in that early in camp we heard a few reports that when Mac would make a bad throw in practice, he might have started to force things a bit and it would spiral on him. Cam, if nothing else, has confidence and short memory. He was one of the first guys over to talk to Mac when he'd have these moments, and I'm sure the message was something along the lines of "Let it go, the next play is more important". That's something Mac will need to cultivate over the course of the year, and we've seen in games he's recovered from those things pretty well thus far. I'm not giving Cam credit for it, just that he's part of the support structure on this team that reinforces it.
To my knowledge he has always accepted responsibility.I’ve heard the opposite. When Jones has made a bad play by all reports he takes responsibility and responds with good play.

Well, when Nick Saban said he used to call Mac "John McEnroe" to the press before his first start (because of his tendency to get frustrated), followed by praising him for having recently improved in that area, that was obviously a corrective action to head off a potential problem. And, it seemed to completely work, Mac really turned that around as a starter, I can't think any examples of that type of frustration behavior as an Alabama starter.Taking responsibility is one thing, and I've heard that too. But there were a couple early camp reports that he got frustrated and strung together 4 bad plays in a row. It happens, it's not a fatal flaw, just saying that's something he can improve on (and from what I saw in the recent games, he has).

Platers learn by playing they don’t learn by sitting. The reason I want Newton no where near the field is that I want to win. Win now and win long term. It seems you have a different agenda.
To my knowledge he has always accepted responsibility.
But, early in his college career he excessively beat himself up after a bad play. Before his first start, Saban said: "I call Mac, John McEnroe, because he was a tennis player and he's got the same kind of disposition that John McEnroe had when he was playing -- throwing his racket and having a fit when things don't go the way it's supposed to. But he's really matured."
And, as a starter at Alabama he pretty much completely put that in the past, and forgetting a bad play and following it with a good play became a real strength for him. His growth in that area was very impressive and a tribute to him IMHO.

Nobody is “ rushing to throw him to the wolves,” what people are saying is that he should start over Newton if Newton is costing them games, as he did last year. There are numerous examples of QB’s starting their first year and having great careers. I’m fine with Newton starting as long as they are winning, but I’m not fine with throwing the season away because people are afraid Jones will curl up and die if he has a rough time.
Sure, key point "if he's costing them games". So maybe lay off unless Cam plays like crap for 3 weeks in a row. Last year was weird for multiple reasons .
You keep saying that and I keep telling you it’s a lie. You know it’s a lie. But by all means find that post, the board has a search feature. Otherwise stfu.Yeah I get it, you were the one claiming Malcolm Butler was on drugs within an hour of the Superbowl benching. We get it, you hate Cam. This will be fun watching you lose your mind when the Pats start Cam and are winning. You won't know what to do.

He shouldn’t take that chance because Newton is who he is. Why lose games unnecessarily and put the team in a hole?Belichick has turned this team into a playoff team if they get good QB play, so it wouldn’t make any sense to let sh.tty QB play cost them that opportunity. If Newton plays the way he did last season then Belichick should bench him and play Jones.

That COVID fog was a b!tch He has more weapons now. We shall see.Of course. Nobody's going to defend Cam if he plays poorly. But it's unfair to assume Cam this year is going to be the same as no-receivers/TE, covid fog, signed-late Cam of last year.
How bad are asymptomatic symptoms? That COVID fog was a b!tch He has more weapons now. We shall see.
