For reference here are Saquon Barkley’s fastest runs from 2019:

Stevenson’s game speed is not 4.64. Reaching 20+ MPH at his weight is basically limited to Derrick Henry & Leonard Fournette.

He did look a lot faster than I thought he would, but I had just assumed it was an illusion because he was on the field with (theoretically) slower defenders. Nice to see the numbers suggest differently.

That should tell us all we need to know about the usefulness of 40 times.

I wonder if Bill is going to unleash this beast in 2021. With the exceptions of Michel and Maroney, rookie RBs tend to get redshirted in this offense.

Have any of the other RB's been timed in break aways?

Yeah, it seems like if you were drafted in the first two rounds (Michel, Maroney, Ridley) you play a significant role in year 1. Anything beyond that (Vereen, White, Harris) and you pick it up in year 2. That said, the RB group this year is going to be REALLY interesting, because you've also got Bolden and Taylor in the mix. Unless they're keeping 6, someone's gotta go.

I’ve watched the kid run away from SEC defenders. Never believed his true speed was clocked before he was drafted. He’s a steal. He and Lewis are a couple of hammers that are going to wear out opposing defenses for years to come.

Note that Agholor had the 7th fastest run in the NFL in the 2020 season - only a shade behind Tyreek Hill. But Mostert is way out front in this race. (Incidentally Fournette's peak was around 22)

omfg can you imagine someone that size running into you at that speed hahaha

Going to love this kid!

I love Bolden but to me he's the luxury pick to have in stable, when you need depth and a veteran who can contribute on ST. Too many young prospects on this team now, someone else needs to step into that ST role Bolden plays

Mildly surprised the top spots are primarily running backs, but I guess that could be the "ball carrier" qualification since I'd imagine a lot of the sprinting WR do is before the catch. I just figured running backs would be slower on average than receivers, as they're usually larger.

Forty measures stop to go, measuring “top speed” measures full gallup. What all these players seemingly have in common is open field in front of them and hell nipping at their heels.

Stevenson ran a 4.6 forty at a pro day, perhaps he could bump that up to 4.5 range… decent speed, but not Derrick Henry 4.4 speed. Fournette is about the same speed as Stevenson having run a 4.5, Lev Bell only ran a 4.6 so obviously forty isn’t everything at RB. Stevenson has great feet and change of direction for his size, his agility drills were great.

I love these “measurables don’t matter” takes. A measurable doesn’t make a football player… but Tyreek Hill, Deion Sanders, Randy Moss and Barry Sanders burn you because they can run that 4.2 forty. If it can be harnessed speed kills.

How do they clock speed on "0" and "6" yard plays?

He destroyed his Pro Day numbers.

Pro Day Date:03/12/21
40 Yard Dash:4.64 seconds
40 Yard (MPH):17.63 (MPH)
20 Yard Split:2.75 seconds
10 Yard Split:1.67 seconds

Sony needs to call his agent just in case Stevenson is the real deal.

There is no need to waste carries on a RB with no power.

J Fields runs a 4.4 forty. The Bears are raving how fast he is.

So Stevenson is cruising for a big man.
