After an excellent free agency and draft, the Patriots appear to be resting on their laurels.
The world champion Bucs are returning all their starters on offense and defense plus Antonio
Brown and most of their reserves. They appear to have a decent draft. Interesting, they
felt the need to invest in UDFAs and are still adding free agents.

I heard a possible explanation for this, this morning. The Patriots may be waiting on word of how camps will work. Last year, teams with 90 players couldn't all work together on the same day, while teams with a lower number (80?) could all work together.

Yeah it would be nice if the league would let its teams know the size of their own rosters...While I'm waiting for that clarification, I would start cutting guys here to clear enough room to sign some UDFAs before the good ones are all gone...

He was the best back in the SEC before he got hurt his last year at Auburn. With him Auburn crushed Georgia in the regular season, two weeks later and without him, they get beat soundly in the SEC championship game by the same Georgia team. Of course, Auburn had a some stiff named Stidham as thier QB. So once Johnson was gone, he couldn't carry a tune, let alone a team.

If he is healthy, Johnson is well worth a look.

The Dolphins weird offseason with vets continues. McCain is a 27 year old FS that had the lowest passer rating against of any safety in the NFL. Has experience in McCourty’s role as the Dolphins run a lot of cover 1.

The pats are bursting at the seams with DBs but that would be a good signing.

Both McCain and Kerryon Johnson are definitely worth looking into (who knows what the asking prices could be).

They're good for this year, but if McCourty is nearing the end of this career, Dugger is the only real safety they have around long term. Getting McCain in the building wouldn't be a bad move if the price is workable. I'm sure they could find a use for both guys on the field in enough situations.

Keep an eye on Denver if you want to see some DBs becoming available. They've got about 50.

I don't see the Pats bringing a DB in at this point, unless the value is too good to pass up. They're thick back there and they need to develop a couple of younger players.

In fact, I don't see them bringing in many more players at all, unless they work some trades. Trim the roster to 53 and there are a bunch of guys cut that make you go "ouch."

Pats receivers were open plenty last season, Newton just didn't get it to them. It's why I think Mac Jones will win the starting job in camp

Can't argue with that right now. Injuries will take care of some of that, as will disappointments and likely a trade or two. But for right now, there isn't a position on the team that doesn't have good competition. It's a good place to be in.
