OT: Official 2020 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Happy they’re keeping Brate. I was worried about him being on the chopping block since the Bucs have 3 high paid tight ends.

Jason Licht has to be executive of the year

Tampa Bay will win the Superbowl if most of their key players are healthy. Not even KC can compete with them. We tend to forget they didn't really mesh together well until December

So they've done it. They've brought back "everyone", something unprecedented in the Super Bowl era.

They've got an offense that, assuming there's no major drop off with individual player abilities, assuming Howard can come back healthy, and assuming the OL can hold up, no team in the league can match up against.

They've got a defense with a dominant man in the middle (Vea), dominant LB play, and solid DB play.

Now it's time for the draft. Time to look at DL/DB for round one.

This applies, at least in theory, for both the Bucs and Patriots:

Key word is healthy, going long has it's toll if the blood line is not refreshed. It will also depend on when they get their bye week

So, Brady had to deal with a pasted together WR group for the vast majority of his Patriots career, and often had a similar situation at TE. In Tampa, he'll be dealing with

Mike Evans
Antonio Brown
Chris Godwin
Scotty Miller
Tyler Johnson

Gronk
Howard
Brate

as his receiving corps for the second straight season. The only likely "receiver" change he'll have to worry about is the upgrade from LeSeaon McCoy's corpse to Giovanni Bernard as 3dRB.

The experiment we are going to be watching has a chance to be absolutely fascinating.

Is this thread not showing up anywhere on the forum for anyone else?

Edit: figured out what was wrong

I have been thinking about his and I think it is fair to wonder how much Brady could have won with a different GM. I realize some of what Tampa has done is for short term success although their cap is in great shape because they have drafted so well since 2015 but it is hard not to come to the conclusion that Bill's defense first approach and building a mid-tier team with very little elite talent while giving Brady the leftovers on offense was not a good approach given what Brady can do with any semblance of talent. The guy is a force multiplier like no other team sport has ever witnessed. That 10 year drought while Brady was in his prime is an inexcusable and rolls right up to Bill.

I’d just like to ask in advance that people in this thread separate causation from coincidence. I’ll be rooting for TB12 to win MVP at age 44. This has zero to do with winning a championship and it isn’t an either/or. That’s just superstition...but every time I say I like his chances, I find at least three people make the same nonsensical comment: “I’d rather see him win a Super Bowl” like it’s one or the other.

All of these “curses” like the MVP/Super Bowl, Madden, etc. are legit curses right up until the moment they‘re not.

I hope the Pats don't play them till later in the year. If it's in September (and I think it will be) with the Pats usual slow start to the season - the game could get out of hand and Bill will really hear it from the fans.

A November game might be a different story the Pats hopefully have their QB, all the kinks ironed out and the team starting to playing well. They've usually played great opponents very well later in the season.

TB figures to be stronger this season than last. That said KC improved tremendously on their OL.

Brady-Mahomes III in SB 56? #8

2017 should have broken the "curse" Not only did he win MVP, he was also on the cover of Madden. If not for Belichick and the defense then he wins the Super Bowl. 2017 was arguably his best playoff run.

1,132 Yards (377 YPG)
8 Touchdowns
0 Interceptions
8.1 Y/A
108.6 Passer Rating

All of that with no Edelman, Gronk missing a lot of the AFC Championship Game, and Cooks missing most of the Super Bowl.
