DRAFT BGC 2021 Pre-Draft/Patriot-Type Prospect(s) thread

It’s both a deep WR and a deep OT draft. They can solve both needs with their first two picks. I’d probably still go with Sewell if I were them and see who slides into day 2. I think Sewell, barring injury, is easily a future HoF prospect. I haven’t see a tackle that dominant come out since Joe Thomas.

I agree, wrote it in another thread some minutes ago, i'd be surprised if Sewell isn't the pick given he is on board and Pitts also gone..I understand the Chase pick, they lost green and bc of JB connection but they should be able to find a WR in the early second rd. like maybe Moore, Marshall, Bateman etc. who can be solid WR for them, JB will be able to work with them.

If he can create a vertical board with 500 names on it, then why can't Bill?
He's grading prospects not building a roster. Having 500 names would be completely inefficient and ineffective. The draft is only 4 rounds. Watching & grading 300 prospects that will never sniff a minute in the NFL isn't the way.

KS trying to be the smartest guy in the room. Will end up dooming him
I believe he once said something about liking unathletic QB's running boots bc the defense won't be expecting it as much. Yea he might over think a few things. I'm

I love it. I love the journey but I've always been a results guy, as one might guess lol. It'll be fun to look back on in a year or 3.

He has a guy by the name of Jacob Harris as being the "best fit". Kid is 6'4 6/8. 221# . Runs a 4.43 and has a 6.51 3-cone. Out of Central Florida.

Anyone have anything on him? Other than he looks to be a priority UDFA?
Harris has been brought up a few times. Pats met with him. SR with very little production. Teams have been all over the place on him so I guess it's up to who grabs him, WR, TE, ST maven? Very good hand eye coordination. Strong, natural hands. Needs to learn how to utilize that speed & quicks bc it doesn't really show up on film. He needs some time to get things going.

I'm pretty sure Doug is saying he's the highest fit or we strictly from an athletic pov.

Don't know. Don't care. What I find interesting is that the anti Jones crowd doesn't really have anything they can push on Jones, yet all we hear is that same silly **** denigrating him without anything approaching "proof" of the takes. The low ceiling thing is probably the most amusing part of all. Frankly, it should make every Patriots fan on the planet start laughing over its absurdity.
I've only looked at a few peoples grades and everyone has him in 1st or 2nd range. I have a 2nd on him. I'm not seeing any Anti Jones people?

I see a lot of people saying he's not worth a top ten pick. Value isn't there. I don't see anything wrong with using the "low ceiling" label, it's not new to Mac and not an insult. Bill loves himself "low ceiling" players that are "NFL ready". These are draft terms used forever not made up to hurt Mac.
I'd ask where exactly is "upside" is? Also I've listed legit concerns about him plenty of times. Many times, along with his strengths. There's plenty there to those that watched him.

And, before anyone jumps in as if I'm championing Jones, I'll point out that I'm not. The sudden need to jump to #3 in order to get the QB who people were projecting as being picked somewhere around 15 has always been a curiousity to me. Fields seemed to make more sense if the 49ers were going to trade JAG, and Lance seemed to make more sense if they weren't. But they made more sense because of the previously expected draft positions, not because of some definitively demonstrated superiority. After all, Jones is the guy who took over the Alabama team and played better (at least arguably) than his NFL-starting-QB predecessor.

adios and vaya con dios

Almost like that ball is hitting a low ceiling ??? I kid, I kid.

Interesting that the list doesn't have Owusu-Karamoah listed as a LB..

Owusu-Karamoah is a special player in my view. Yes we have Dugger, but JOK is a proper LB who can legitimately cover WRs and TEs. He's obviously not great against the run but can do almost everything else. He'll play on all four downs and has pro bowl potential, like a Troy Polamalu or more recently Jeremy Chinn - and we know how much BB values 4 down players. I think Dugger and JOK can play together and make you so flexible/multiple, especially against these new ages TEs and RBs. I think he's the best LB in the draft and might even be the top defensive player.

I wouldn't be against a trade down of 5 spots however and try and get Rashod Bateman. I must be in the minority on Zaven Collins, he doesn't seem to play that physical to me. I also don't see how he plays much at all this year, the same with any DE we might draft. I could see a WR, CB, OT, or JOK all playing this year.
Agreed on all. I think a lot of teams will have JOK very high. It's not 1994. His skill-set will be covered and agree about him & Dugger playing together.

I'm a big Bateman fan and have shared the same concerns for Collins. A lot more KJ Wright & Bobby Wagner (which obviously aren't bad things) than Hightower. I wouldn't be surprised to see JOK see go before him

When the reason for the claim of "low ceiling" of a QB is because of his relative lack of running, which is what many of the "analysts" are basing things on, that's an insult. It's also about as stupid as it gets.

Ok I agree with that but honestly haven't see anyone make that specific claim about him. Not the low ceiling but he's got a low ceiling bc he can't run. That's nonsense.

Physically I could see small improvements that albeit could go a long way. I'd use the low ceiling term simply bc I don't see a guy that could improve leaps and bounds in that area. Like he won't get much more accurate or have much better placement but he definitely could improve his footwork. Release could be a little quicker. He real upside is between the ears though. Everything else is good enough or above average. Command, tempo, recognition, poise. All things he'll need to be better at than the opposing QB on Sunday.
