DRAFT BGC 2021 Pre-Draft/Patriot-Type Prospect(s) thread

So many insiders are dying on the Mac Jones Hill it's amazing. I like Jones a lot but a lot of over-thinking on Shanahan's part if he goes that way imo. Only explanation is that he's in love bc I've heard this is all on him. And from the looks of how the process unfolded Shanahan was like Littefinger. Orchestrating all these workouts. Having prospects work out in private with his boys. Scripted plays at workouts. Rumors flying about 3 different QB's. He's played this perfectly so far. We'll see how he goes in a few days.

It is so hard for me to imagine that KS traded up to 3 for Mac Jones. Perhaps it is a smokescreen to keep someone from trading up to the second pick to take Fields? But then wilson would drop to them, but maybe they do not like wilson. No idea. The only thing keping me from Hammering fields to go 3rd is the chance that they take Lance.

Im totally aboard the get yourself a guy that can not only make plays in the pocket, but get out of it to extend and make plays. Mac aint that. Good luck finding a TB 12.

Either the Niners REALLY like Jones and don't want anyone to have a chance to draft him or it's a smokescreen for Fields or Lance. I honestly think Pitts is a better option at #3 than Jones.

Don't know. Don't care. What I find interesting is that the anti Jones crowd doesn't really have anything they can push on Jones, yet all we hear is that same silly **** denigrating him without anything approaching "proof" of the takes. The low ceiling thing is probably the most amusing part of all. Frankly, it should make every Patriots fan on the planet start laughing over its absurdity.

And, before anyone jumps in as if I'm championing Jones, I'll point out that I'm not. The sudden need to jump to #3 in order to get the QB who people were projecting as being picked somewhere around 15 has always been a curiousity to me. Fields seemed to make more sense if the 49ers were going to trade JAG, and Lance seemed to make more sense if they weren't. But they made more sense because of the previously expected draft positions, not because of some definitively demonstrated superiority. After all, Jones is the guy who took over the Alabama team and played better (at least arguably) than his NFL-starting-QB predecessor.

If social media has been any indication, Niners fans are going to have a collective meltdown if the Mac at 3 rumors end up being true. I can’t wait for Thursday.

Owusu-Karamoah is a special player in my view. Yes we have Dugger, but JOK is a proper LB who can legitimately cover WRs and TEs. He's obviously not great against the run but can do almost everything else. He'll play on all four downs and has pro bowl potential, like a Troy Polamalu or more recently Jeremy Chinn - and we know how much BB values 4 down players. I think Dugger and JOK can play together and make you so flexible/multiple, especially against these new ages TEs and RBs. I think he's the best LB in the draft and might even be the top defensive player.

I wouldn't be against a trade down of 5 spots however and try and get Rashod Bateman. I must be in the minority on Zaven Collins, he doesn't seem to play that physical to me. I also don't see how he plays much at all this year, the same with any DE we might draft. I could see a WR, CB, OT, or JOK all playing this year.

Our DEs besides Judon all Suck (Hightower & KVN are Not considered DEs in this case)...If a draftee is good enough, he'll get plenty of snaps here.

If he can create a vertical board with 500 names on it, then why can't Bill?

Gee.. Because Bill doesn't see the need for a 500 player vertical board. The amount of time and energy wasted by scouts doing that would be ridiculous.

Nystrom isn't Buschbaum. And if you think he is, that's you problem. Buschbaum was a savant whom was very good friends with Belichick. Belichick tried to hire Buschbaum on numerous occasions, but Buschbaum preferred to put his information out for all.

Just because Nystrom can put together a list of 500 athletes doesn't mean:
- that the list is accurate
- that Nystrom put in the time and effort on each player to truly evaluate the player
- that Nystrom has the ability to evaluate a player.

Great name.. And I can see them using it all over the place.. "Forsythe stoned Watt on that play"
I would probably laugh if i would know what Forsythe /means in the USA, sorry

He has a guy by the name of Jacob Harris as being the "best fit". Kid is 6'4 6/8. 221# . Runs a 4.43 and has a 6.51 3-cone. Out of Central Florida.

Anyone have anything on him? Other than he looks to be a priority UDFA?
