The jets organization has a very miasmic atmosphere, however once someone is out of that building, that person magically become hirable, heck, we have people on this board talking about gase as a future oc candidate!

I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it in any other pro football organization or any other sport.

Terrible hire, this guy will be in over his head from day one. I breathed a sigh of relief the Jete didn't snag someone with a proven track record. His being Muslim is completely irrelevant to "PR" and everything else.

This is a typical Jetsy move. Saleh is very media savvy and media friendly and gives off good vibes and the Jets ownership, fan base and mediots have all taken a shine to him but apparently they have not looked very much at the game tape. SF defense was good because they invested heavily on talent on that side of the ball. It's a very basic defense that needs highly talented players to be able to make 1:1 plays. Saleh coached under Pete Carroll then under Gus Bradley so he will have yet another Carroll-style read-react scheme. Saleh will be asking Douglas for talented defensive players that can play in the Seattle scheme so his coaching career gets off to a good start, which means their very un-talented offensive line and skill positions will be taking a back seat even more than it already has.

Meanwhile da Jete invested heavily in Darnit and didn't recruit a coach that has any track record of turning around QBs. The guy they are bringing in from SF along with Saleh also has nothing on game day tape that would impress you. Did Woody et al even watch any game tape before deciding who to hire, or did they just ask media people who to bring in?

Da Jete's biggest quandary is if a talented QB falls to them at #3. If one does, then they have to dump Darnit and pick the QB and start building talent on the offense, yet that means dumping the investment on Darnit and now having your defensive minded coach unhappy because his defense has no talent. If they keep Darnit and spend the picks on a defensive player or trade down, their fan base is gonna hang them by the short and curlies and this new staff will have their fate tied to fixing Darnit which is a really bad place to be.

I see them adding defensive talent and getting an average defense but no offense and finding themselves in the middle of the pack for a few seasons while the fans yet again get restless and demand someone get fired so Douglas gets his turn at being the fall guy then a few years later Saleh will become the next victim.

Would be interesting to do a similar 'dump' of GM and coaching changes.

Kinda makes me realize that dumping Darnold is a typical Jetsy move: get rid of the last regime's QB, which gives the new regime a good two year window to bring in the new guy, and even if he sucks they at least get into the second year to try to make it work.

Given the overall poor talent on the team especially on the offense chances are it will be a sh*t show this season at least, and who knows what that does to the rookie QB's psyche going forward.

They have a crap-ton of draft picks, but it's hard to see how that can change their fortunes unless they draft and coach well, and this being da Jete, I'm OK with assuming they will f*ck things up.

Saleh is a defensive coach from the Pete Carrol rah-rah school, it's hard to see everything coming together for quite a while, and easy to see the next reboot in two or three years, IMO.
