I get the injury concerns i share them too but i don't it's fair to count his years a s a back up against him. the years should be a sa starterJimmy the Glass has had 1 successful season out of 7. You don’t trade a 2nd rd pick and pay a guy with that kind of history. If we can get him on a low risk fair deal, go for it. A 2nd and that kind of money though? No thanks.
He had a chance to start a quarter of the season in 2016 and he got injured midway through his second game. His injury issues made him non reliable as even a back upI get the injury concerns i share them too but i don't it's fair to count his years a s a back up against him. the years should be a sa starter

So much of this thread is wishful thinking on why the 49’ers are definitely going to get rid of him this year much less give us a good deal
BECAUSE IF I SAY IT IN CAPS THAT MEANS IT MUST BE TRUE! ESPECIALLY WITH AS MANY EXCLAMATION POINTS AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!There are other excellent thread on QB, but I wanted to focus on a single issue.
WE HAVE A NEED FOR A QB FOR 2021!!!
How can it NOT be worth a 2nd to be able to have an excellent team in 2021.
Jimmy would be paid $26M, $25M AAV over 5 years ($25M bonus plus $1M salary) for a $6M cap hit . Surely the parties can work this out.
We would not be committed to Jimmy for 2022 or thereafter; we could trade him or cut him.
THIS NEED NOT AFFECT ANY DECISIONMAKING FOR THE DRAFT
If we don't believe that Jimmy is a LT answer, we would still do our best to trade up for a QB (or stay or trade down, as you would before the trade).
BTW, this way Lance becomes an even a better prospect, since he may not be ready to start early in 2021.
That’s fair. Since 2016 I have him playing in 32 out of 57 games he should’ve played in. His best year, 2019 he managed the game behind a really strong Defense and a great running game. That team make up sounds familiar, and I k is he would do well. IF he could be depended on. That’s why I wouldn’t risk a 2nd rd pick and that high of a salary. I’d rather have his salary tied up in incentives and pick him up with a 4th at most.I get the injury concerns i share them too but i don't it's fair to count his years a s a back up against him. the years should be a sa starter
66% chance you'd waste a year of this roster on Jimmy IR
you don't go a give more then what you got for him since his stock went down since then, you look to get him for a comp 3rd or 4th, thats what the hope is worth that he can stay on the field....maybe he lasts, maybe he wont. But an effort needs to be made for an upgrade with all the spendings. and it seems bb is still very high on jg despite the injury concerns
I get that but to say he has had success 1/7 years when he has been a back up for 4 of those years is just inaccurate. maybe 1 in 3.5 which still isn't great but its an accurate reflection. He had a chance to start a quarter of the season in 2016 and he got injured midway through his second game. His injury issues made him non reliable as even a back up

Yeah Lynch once again is full of s***.
A 3rd or newton and a secondSupposedly, they offered a 2nd and SF said no Maybe that's changed now, post SF leap up the boards.
I'd offer a third + Cam or a second, sure, if I thought JG was the guy to take the team forward.
When is the last time picking you qb of the future in the 3rd worked? The conventional wisdom is that the Patriots must trade up to the top 4 to get one of the elite QBs. If history has taught us anything is that BB doesn't follow conventional wisdom. He probably has his QB of the future picked out and it's probably going to be made in the 3rd round, Trask, Mond or Ramsey of Northwestern and the pick at #15 will be the BPA, likely a stud on defense. He's probably sitting there hoping that all the top picks are QB so he can draft 'his' player at 15........
Drafting a quarterback top 10 is a crapshoot, great if you hit, not so great if you don't and even worse if you mortgaged the future with multiple future first round picks to draft the next Ryan Leaf or Akili Smith....
