And it would only take about $3mil to sign drafted players. They still have room to play with.
Not enough for a QB if you figure they will want to leave at least 5M for in-season issues. Plus we have no center at the moment

They can stretch money out easily if they needed to save even more money. Cap is malleable.

If needed, there are players on this team BB can cut or extend to create cap space. Money really isn't an issue right now so much as the availability of the players. It is remarkable that we signed this many guys and still have this much cap space left in case an opportunity becomes available. But looking at this roster, I actually think Cam have a chance taking us to the playoffs. Offensively and defensively, we are wayyyy better than last year for sure.

says:

Hunter Henry to the Patriots

This is not going to be peak Patriots, like back when they had an unstoppable tight end duo, but it’s going to be somewhat close. Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry together is a fascinating pair and provides whoever is quarterbacking the New England Patriots with two dependable targets who drop incredibly few passes (Henry’s drop rate in 2020 was under 3%). We’ve seen more stable offenses, like the ones in Baltimore, Cleveland and Tennessee, adopt a more frequent usage of the dual tight end set. Maybe Josh McDaniels and Bill Belichick have it in mind to inch toward that direction.

Let's say we were going for Watson... what is the price? And who is the competition? Jets and Dolphins? And they both have GREAT picks to trade.

Seems very unlikely we can even get DeShaun
They may not want to give more than us.

SOME THOUGHTS
1) WR's aren't getting the money, and few are willing to sign now.
2) QB's are now moving. Perhaps, we'll see a big trade tomorrow to MIA or the NYJ.
3) Someone needs to start the ball rolling on RB's.
4) We'll see if anyone scoops up Andrews or Van Noy, or whether we'll be able to do so.

I’d like to grab Conner. Hard runner and can catch the ball out of the backfield. Injuries have sort of derailed his career a bit, though.

Wouldn't Watson just report with 6 or 7 weeks left in the season so the year counts towards the contract?
Then he'd have to play.

Then he'd have to play.
Well he wouldn't have to. Houston could sit him.
But yeah, he could show up late in the season. Make a few million, screw up Houston's cap space a bit, and go through the motions.

There's no way Houston wins here. Watson will always have teams ready to pay him.

If he dogs it, he gets suspended, the team goes after his bonus, and he becomes a pariah. Just ask T.O.. People will put up with a lot of nonsense, but nobody likes a guy who shivs his teammates like that. The only way Houston "loses" is if Houston blinks.
