Player Signing Now Hunter Henry signs with New England:

For nearly all of Cam’s tenure in Carolina, the TE (Olsen) was the de facto WR1. Seems like Bill made sure he had a QB he could sell to FA’s, and that’s exactly what he has done. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Bill take a WR first round. With the opt outs coming back on defense and these FA additions, the Pats should be right back in contention.

Who woulda thunk they could build an offense that might even overcome the suck if newton at qb?

This is one hell of an offense to hand to the QB of the future that they draft in round 1 though. Perfectly set up for working through growing pains.

This is crazy! I really wonder about the qb plans now, is he really trying to build this offense for cam ?? With a real qb this could be a sb team

So filling needs that caused you to suck isn’t an effective way to rebuild your roster?

I mean, we did a similar thing in 2007 when it was clear the WR room was a major weakness in 2006. It wasn't all free agency, but it was major moves for vets in Moss and Welker, plus a fairly big deal for Stallworth (though that had an escape in year two if I recall). Still, Belichick is not afraid to invest heavily in a position he thinks was fatally flawed, and given our tight ends last year had something like 20 catches combined for the year, he pounced on two that he's always really liked. It was the perfect storm: Need, Opportunity, and Resources.

Now go get a WR and another defensive lineman.
I still think we are getting Jimmy G this offense is looking tailored for his strengths

No worries give the sports media a little bit of time and the new self-invented narrative will be unveiled. Now it will be Belichick and Kraft are desperate or something similar.

Just posted something on this topic in a new thread :)

Absolutely love this move. TE has gone from the weakest position on the team to the strongest in teh league injustice 2 days.

I know! Cam might even crack double digit passing TDs at this rate ;)

I don’t think either Asiasi or Keene’s jobs will be safe. Pretty easy to see Izzo and one, if not both of them, battling it out for the TE3 role. The team can now pretty much attack out of any personnel grouping that they please. I’d say they still need another WR in the draft as insurance against Harry continuing to suck (draft is very deep at this position) and they’re clearly interested in an RB. Other than that? Trade up in the first and grab a QB and we are set for some time on offense.

LOL that people thought the team would have trouble signing FAs. Money talks.

A lot of the narratives around the Pats are silly, but they had huge cap space in 2021 (and beyond!) and you HAVE TO spend most of it.

This only looks nuts because they went from having very limited cap space several years in a row to "all of it, for the foreseeable future."

Exactly! Those interested can have a read here:
