Player Signing Cam newton resigned 1 year deal

Sick burn. Better than you are, though. So you’re, what, top 8? Top 10? Your rankings are always so accurate.

The guy uses the same lame joke over and over again judging my burns. Who could have thought you could know less about a subject than football?

That's why I love you. You keep surprising me every day with your lack of knowledge. Don't ever change.

Ugh. That is the worst part. What top FA receiver or TE will want to play with Cam? I can see us attracting RBs but not receiving threats which is what we need desperately.
That's the funny part. The irony is, it could drive them away. However, if Bill shows them the money, WR's rarely really care who's throwing the ball since it's so hard for them to get paid.

It’s been said a few times in here and from reporters - NFL players seemingly have a lot more respect for the guy than we do. He’s not gonna make the difference that a trade for someone like Watson would, obviously, but his presence probably helps a lot more than if it was just Stidham here.
Exactly Ross, kind of surprised myself, but he is Lazur saying the same:

Sorry but I laughed at Bill showing WRs money.

Just to be clear on this:

You think Cam Newton willingly signed with the Patriots before free agency, without the understanding that he'd be the team's starter next year?

How do you know differently?? Most NFL players sign knowing that they are not guaranteed of anything unless they earn it.

I do not see, after last year, that he is guaranteed of anything... a lot of the angst associated with this is premature. Stay tuned more to follow..

What I don't get about the "Cam = FA player draw" theory is this, and I'm willing to have people to explain it to me:

If 2021 Patriots Cam is going to be a FA player draw, why wasn't he a FA player draw when he was in Carolina?

Virtually every QB who is drafted number one overall has never been a back up until they are. Bledsoe was a back up in Dallas. Vick was a back up in NY. Alex Smith was in Washington. At some point in his career, a QB has to choose whether he wants to compete for a starting position knowing he might be a back up or retire.
Why sign here before FA is even open with the possibility of a better situation?

He did not sign in NE to hold a clipboard.

Cam Newton on whether he'd accept backup role in 2021

Not a backup: Cam Newton doesn't envision himself accepting that role

You figure he gave up on his desire to be a starter before free agency even began?

I absolutely love having Cam back. Just perfect....14M is peanuts if he takes us to the promised land.

I can't wait to see how much better Cam is with: A full off-season, 2nd year in the system, UPGRADE at the offensive skill positions, improved defense, and no COVID.

And I am starting to get the feeling that Trey Lance might slide all the way to #15 or a bit outside of the top 10....the kid only played 1 game in the past year!!! Cam would be the perfect mentor for him, IMO.

Because the handwriting is on the wall. Cam Newton is not guaranteed a starting QB spot anywhere he goes. The guy was left lingering in free agency last year until July because no one wanted him enough to be his starter.

Sort of interesting that Cam last season had a lower percentage of "Bad Throws" than a certain other QB:

Some of Cam's really bad throws are firmly stuck in our minds, but his accuracy overall wasn't as bad as it felt.

I'd also note that he is being paid very much like a backup QB - way less than Nick Foles and Taysom Hill who each get $17m guaranteed.

This deal keeps Belichick's options open - catch a QB in the draft, or move on Jimmy later in the year. Us paying $20m for a mediocre player (those are the current options) is even less palatable than this deal.

Or teams offered him a backup job and he declined.

Should of given whatever millions Cam is getting to Thuney and solidify the best offensive line in football.

Meanwhile, Bucs extend Brady and are signing a bunch of their own talent. Just disgusting.

Rob, there’s so many god damn touchdowns in that video that YouTube had to take 3 commercial breaks throughout the course of it. Have you emailed them yet to inform them that Brady is not a top 5 QB anymore? They don’t seem to know.

No, it's not.

Sheesh, you people.

I'd rather roll with putting that money towards Thuney and high draft pick at QB. I'm fairly certain they could throw more than 8 TD's in a season.

This is a Jim Buss type move.

Brady threw for more TDs in the 2020 playoffs (10) than Cam threw in the entire 2020 season (8). But Brady's cooked, and Cam's the man...
