Asante goes off on Bill/Pats organization

What part did you not understand?

You said he did “childish crap”. You’ve yet to show us anyone who’s said that he did “childish crap”.

If he did pull some “childish crap” like you say the team deserves to know. Those guys played through injuries and put a ton of effort to get to that game. To have the coach bench a starting corner and no one knows why is B.S. If he did something to deserve that benching tell the team. You can’t ask for their effort and dedication and leave them wondering what the fcuk happened.

I just posted a tweet from Ian Rappaport that says he did. Grow up boomer.

So how do you arrive at “doing childish crap” from the tweet that said there was a “minor rule violation.”? For all we know he was 2 minutes late for the bus or missed curfew by a minute.

You realize this makes it worse, right? Nothing here about punching coaches, snorting crack, banging Ricky Lander. Sickness? Minor rules violation? Bad practices? Really??

Basically your argument: Bill had a reason! I guess that works when you believe that Bill is actually the New England Patriots, and whatever he deems is in his self-interest is also in the best interest of the team, and therefore shouldn’t have any accountability to the fans and organization who employ him.

So you said in your earlier post “ he did some childish crap leading up to the game.” Then when I asked what he did specifically you replied “I wasn't there but teammates commented about it off the record after the season was over.”Now when I asked what they said specifically you don’t give us anything that says he did some childish crap before the game.

Basically you just proved you’re full of crap.

Apparently minor curfew violation = childish crap.

Bill had reason based off his entire (piss poor) body of work in 2017, based off the fact that he was "sick" which some reports said was actually hungover, based off a poor week of practice and f--king off the week prior to the biggest game of the year. Butler was crying because he knew he was wrong. If you think a gladiator was crying because a coach was mean to him... I heartily laugh out loud.

Again, BB said nothing but good things about him to make sure he didn't sabotage his free agent prospects. His teammates certainly wouldn't go on record to slam him.
No, BB just benched him in front of 106 million people 5 weeks before FAcy started based on a "coaches decision," and refused to justify the move creating questions and speculation about Butler's behavior and character.

What a tremendous send off for the hero of SB XLIX. Classic spiteful pr*ck move by Bill.

If BB bent over and took it in the keister every time his players act out he wouldn't be a good coach. The fact BB said it was a football decision and nothing else afterwards showed he wasn't spiteful about it.

Butler was wrong, he should have shut his damn mouth and played out the final year of his contract. Instead he went the Jamie Collins route after watching him try to burn the building down the year prior and get his walking papers. The mistake BB made was not trading Butler in the offseason for a 2nd when he had the chance.

Butler had zero influence on that Super Bowl, he wouldn't have prevented the Eagles from running for 164 yards, the Patriot corners played well in the second half after Gilmore was manned up on Jeffreys. This is just another BB sucks take... nothing else.

By the way for anyone who doesn’t remember Malcolm Butler was immediately salty after the Super Bowl loss in 2017, he said the Patriots gave up on him and complained.

After he signed his big contract with Tennessee he was contrite and thanked BB for everything he had done for his career.

When Butler finished college he was working in a fast food restaurant and only received one offer from an NFL team to try out... one. The Patriots were the only team that called. So if they hadn’t called he might be manager of Popeye’s Chicken at this point.

Fans are dumb... no offense, but there are some real pom pom waving mouth breathers out there.

People conveniently forget Malcolm admitted he was not, "100% focused to play".

But BB should should have put him in anyway?

Sure, let's put a player who has not committed 100% of his focus to playing in the biggest game of the year.

I can't believe this is still a debate.

"With the 46th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots select... Asante Samuel, Jr." :D :D :D :D

Can't wait for it to happen!

This is just a bunch of hogwash. He started 2 weeks before the SB in the AFCCG and played well, third in tackles.

You keep saying Butler was wrong, but you don't say what it is he was wrong about. Complaining about contract negotiations? Is that what got him benched? So, Asante's claims ring true then, that BB is so spiteful he'll punish players over non-football matters above the interests of the team?

Butler would've absolutely made a difference. He was a good tackler and could've helped in limiting rushing yards. One PD or INT could've made all the difference in the world (where have we seen that before?).

Butler at 50% would have been better than what they had out there.

Not that I am "dialed in" but the dude had a meltdown that week.

Sounds like the pressure of the contract put him over the edge.

Actually, he would have given up several passes and another 2 TD's and we would have lost by 14-17.

Sure but players that don't prepare don't play. It's been that way for 20 years. Change it for one game?

Maybe. Maybe not. We'll never know if there was a true root cause.

Asante’s kids a cornerback in the draft this year? Watch BB draft his kid in the 2nd round

I used to think Wozzy was Chatham. Now I think it may actually be Linda.
Well, Chatham probably secretly wishes he was Linda. But, either way, you may be on to something.

You realize that, over the course of any season in any sport, athletes are generally not 100% focused. Are you 100% focused and dialed-in on any given day at your job? So why would it be different for an athlete?
