Carson Wentz traded to the Colts

Come on man.

This isn't an either/or only decision between Wentz or Cam.

There are many other options, both short and long term.

Wentz sucks and the Eagles aren't going to take a 60M cap hit to get rid of him. This entire thread doesn't need discussion.

.

Wentz carries a huge risk for not only the coach and gm who hire him, but could also set a franchise back 2 or 3 years. Maybe even more.

He shot out of a cannon into this league and looked every bit a wrecking machine. Blew out the knee and he has spiraled downhill since. That was 3 years ago btw, if he hasn’t got his mojo back by now, than I’m not sure he never will. You never know though. Again though, the kind of move that coaches and front office people lose jobs over. Too much of a risk imo.

Again let me reiterate McDaniels was ready to take a job knowing he would be the QB. If we trust McDaniels believes he can with him we Could be in play.
If we are thinking he was just ready to take any job I dunno.
I think McDaniels has a good idea what he can get out of Wentz

Why would he set the franchise back.
You get wentz and draft a qb.

if wentz gets straightened out he’s your long term qb. If not the rookie takes over when he’s ready.

This is a guy who threw for 4000 yards with 27 td 7 Ints in 2019. That’s not spiralling downward.

I want 2 options. I want a guy who could take the job and run with it. Has to be a guy with the skill set but has struggled or you couldn’t get him. More 1st round qbs fail than hit stardom so I double my odds. I’m fine with it being Jimmy but no way on smith he barely has a functioning leg. No way he could hold up in a perfect world.

Wentz once was the man, that’s the attraction.
He was once. But he hasn’t played well in a couple of years and the team went on a Super Bowl run without him. He’s since regressed, badly, in an offensive system tailored to his strengths. Combine that with the rumors about how he is in the locker room and the price tag, and I think we can get a better “hold down the fort” guy for lesser money elsewhere. Hell, I’d rather see a full season of Stidham than bring in Wentz. The only guys I’d probably take Wentz over are Cam and Haskins (who I saw you mention as another reclamation project).

He's going to be remembered and thanked for NOT playing in the superbowl because if he does they lose. You could put Mahomes in instead of Foles and we probably win. Literally everything the Eagles did worked with some help of changed review protocols and missed offensive penalties on 4th down.

Another QB thread?

"OT: Mahomes to be dealt to NEPs for Simon and a 6th rounder"

You all have been warned.

In 2019 wentz threw for 4000 yards 27 tds and 7 Ints. They were 12th in scoring won h the division.
Show me someone better than that and I’m all in. There is no one else available besides Watson who has played at that level.
I haven’t mentioned Haskins other than when he was cut sign him as qb3 on a flyer.

and again I’m not looking for a hold down the fort guy. I’m looking to win now.
mom looking for a guy who has the potential to take the job. Wentz of 2017 and 2019 (2018 was injury recovery) would be the new starter for the foreseeable future.
If the regression of 2020 is who he is (doubtful) there is a draft pick waiting in the wings.

I’m not interested in filler with no upside while we wait to find out we drafted Daniel jones, jake locker, Christian ponder, Blaine gabbert or Sam Rosen.

How’d he do in 2020?

Nobody will take Wentz contract, he is uncuttable, they would be glad to trade him, but he has numerous large roster bonuses and guarantees that kick in, if you trade for him and cut him the next year it’s $28 million in dead money and still a large cap hit.

Nobody is trading fo4 that contract, it’s north of 30 million every year.
If I'm reading this correctly, column 2 is prorated, so already fell on Philly.

Which means he'll average new money of just under $26m/year for the next 4 years, but becomes eminently cut-able after next year.

He was bad that’s why he’s available. Who are you getting that was good in 2020?
why do you want him if he's bad, with a huge cap number?

Not true

He had a bad season. He has been a very good QB his cap number is fine if he goes back to his previous level of play. Coaching play calling supporting cast may have had a lot to do with it.
Give me a better alternative. I will gladly pay real QB dollars for a guy who has proven he can play at a high level than get a slug for cheap.

So then why would we want him, at his cap number, with his reported issues in the locker room, while having to send draft capital to the Eagles based on production from 2019... the majority of which came against some bad pass defenses? The objective is to get better at quarterback. Not suck moderately less. If anyone trades for him, it will be the Colts or maybe the Bears. Same systems, and familiarity will play a huge part. He’s not a cerebral enough QB to thrive in the E-P and makes way too many brain dead decisions.

EDIT: Didn’t see @KDPPatsfan85 post before submitting this. Guess it’s the Colts.

I am not surprised the Colts are looking to trade for him. He would be perfect with Reich as he was in Philly.
