The Jets :yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck:

Along with the 6-9 teams the Chargers, Cowboys, 49ers and Vikings so that Pats get to draft 11th which would get them as high as 5th trading that pick and their 2nd rounder if they really like one of the QBs. Maybe they could get to 4th if whoever ends up there really wants to trade down. If Fields, Lance or Wilson are there and they love that prospect don't F around thinking you'll develop a guy at 199 a second time.

I'm watching to see how the youngins progress and compete...can't honestly say I care much beyond that.

I just can't do it. I won't be mad if they lose but I can never actively root for us to lose. Even if I tried I still yell at the TV when Cam gets his 5th pass of the day batted down.

No

So we could have the pick in the 10-15 range...correct ?

Look at it this way: a trade up to the top 6 or 7 is going to require a 1st this year and a 1st next, and it doesn't really matter if you're at #12 or #15. Depending on how the Patriots feel about Lance, this would be the year to make a big trade up for a QB, because those top 4 guys actually look pretty good. The Patriots might look stupid here if they at east don't try to land one of the four. This might be one of the all time great draft QB classes.

I'd prefer the Pats drafting potentially 5 slots better each round (11 vs 16)

Go JESTs JESTs JESTs

My fear is this team will wait hoping that he falls then when he’s taken they will punt and trade down. This team doesn’t draft aggressively. It’s blatantly obvious last year they watched a run on WR happen right before them and stayed put and then when the last good one was taken decided to trade out and go to their comfort zone

They've been aggressive before. Trading up for Mayo, Hightower and Chandler Jones. They don't always sit back.

But here's what we don't know. They might not like one of the 3 QBs. And if, as projected, 3 go in the top 4, the y might have no interest in trading up to 6th or 7th. We have to take that into account. They actually might not rate one of the 3 highly.

Disagree. If they are drafting 11th they can use a first and a second. If they're drafting 15th it's probably going to cost them a first, second and a second next year. The draft value chart shows this to equal out.

It's almost certain one of the three will be to their liking and more certain they'll have a good to great career. The trick is picking Allen/Mahomes and not Tribisky\Gabbert. Bill needs to get over his ego and think he'll pluck somebody in the lower half of the draft and they'll become the next Brady. The guys at the top of the draft have a micro-percentage point of turning into that.

The problem is Bill views JG, Cassel and Brissette as hits and to be fair for where they were drafted they are. None of them however are franchise QBs. Knowing what I know now would I be onboard with them taking a star defender at 11-15 if they could draft the next JG in the second round? Sure but you have no guarantee he's not the next O'Connell or Mallet. Draft the guy who could do what Herbert or Burroughs (minus getting hurt) did their first year. Sure don't reach on Tua who was always going to be a boom or bust.

I haven't looked at this year's class to know who I like out of the top batch in detail yet but the point remains I want as much draft equity to get that guy as possible.

I just throw draft charts out the window when it comes to a good QB being available and teams requiring premiums for those picks. It's happened before plenty of times. You'll see teams trade 2 #1s when they are desperate.

Remember the haul for RGIII? Washington traded #6 and #39 in the same draft and first round picks in both 2013 and 2014 (ended up #22 and #2 respectively) to get him at #2.

I put $5 on the Jete. Anyone who is 6-9 or 5-10 I am rooting for. Let's move up into the top 10.

Yep. Draft position is dandy, but actively root for Gangrene? I'd rather roll around in a tub full of brown recluses.

Too many needs on this team to be trading picks. Just draft where we pick. Best player that fits a need. DL, LB, QB

Only when you're talking about trading up for the #1 pick in the entire draft. Here's three recent trades. Let's say the Pats end up with the 12th pick like the Bills did in 2018. I'd be more than happy giving up what they did for Allen. That value is probably right in between what both of us were saying so rather than split hairs have a happy new year my friend.
  • Josh Rosen — Arizona Cardinals gave up pick Nos. 15, 79 and 152 to the Oakland Raiders for the 10th overall selection in 2018.
  • Josh Allen — Buffalo Bills sent their own 2018 first rounder (No. 12 overall) to move up to seventh overall, also giving up two second-round picks and getting the No. 255 overall pick from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • Sam Darnold — New York Jets sent 2018 pick Nos. 6, 37 and 49 overall, plus a 2019 second rounder, to the Indianapolis Colts’ first-round pick (No. 3 overall).
