Debate Brady vs Belichick?

Fall of the House of Belichick.

I knew a big contingent of Patriots fans would be unrealistic and a bit out of their minds about one down season, but I never really thought the media would be so ridiculously bad.

I know the Boston media is horrid, but I thought 20 years of unprecedented domination would have convinced them that Belichick is good. 20 years go by, the guy has one down year--and these guys rip into him.

The Boston media is so astoundingly bad that they have somehow come in below my incredibly low expectations.

Look, you and the other Bradyites are saying how amazing he looks this season. He's playing like a 33-year-old, so therefore if he loses in the playoffs he ought to be evaluated as a 33-year-old. NO EXCUSES. As far as Tampa's record last year, they were 9-7. The Bucs this year will be 11-5 and therefore Brady would have added a whole 2 wins to that.

Me and the other Bradyites? please point to my posts clamoring about how amazing he's looked and how he looks 33 years old?

He's played really well at times, and other times he's played like crap.. not a surprise given the new offense, players, etc

brady took the pats to the super bowl in 2011 with the worst defense in the nfl. who's the defensive guru? fact is, what other coaches lack in teaching technique and discipline, they make up for by bringing in talented players and aggressive schemes. They have guys who can actually rush the quarterback.

why couldn't tb create a dynasty with the bears or 49ers or redskins and on and on...

In 2011 after the bye they allowed 19.8ppg over their last 13 games. That would have put them #8 in points allowed. Once they moved DMC to FS it helped a lot.

Lots of yards but not a lot of points.

It all came home to roost in the SB though. That Giants team was close to last rushing the ball or may have been last and they ran it down our throats.

that's because our offense was good.

genius bill couldn't come up with a game plan.

alright i'm going too far. he's a great coach but Tom covers up a lot of weaknesses on a football team. he's winning multiple championships with another coach. maybe not 6 but he's winning 3 at least.

Gints scored 21 points and 2 of those were from a safety.

Pats D allowed 19 points which is what they did their last 19 games.

The offense did not have Gronk. Gronk plays like Gronk and Welker doesn't drop the ****ing ball we aren't having this debate

Sure. I mean most SBs come down to a few plays. We were down 9-0 and then scored 17 unanswered. The Welker drop may be the worst drop in SB history. At least we have the Butler pick to make up for it. LOL

Ahmad Bradshaw was a key part of the Giants running game and he missed a few games due to a broken foot. However, unfortunately for NE, he came back and was able to play in the playoffs and was huge for them that year.

ALso, don't forget about Manningham's insane catch - probably the best throw and catch I've ever seen in all my years of watching football. He literally caught it inches away from the sideline in between 2 defenders who had great coverage on him.

There is no doubt the 2010-2012 Ds had serious issues but you look at the games, they only allowed over 30 4 times in 54 games.

With that O the D was good enough.

We always got ****ed but absurd SB catches.

This thread is terrible.

We knew before the season started it was a rebuild year. Had 25M in dead cap and 8 players including Hightower, Chung, Cannon opted out. Meanwhile Brady went to a loaded all star team to get as many stats as possible.

If we're going to have this silly debate then it has to be 12 months from now or even later. And we have to acknowledge Brady isn't Tim Duncan or Shaq, he barely made it into the NFL. Belichick gets all the credit for the fact Brady even has a career. Just like Edelman, Meyers, JC Jackson, Malcolm Butler owe their careers as well. Without Belichick Tom likely is selling insurance for his dad's company starting in 2002 or 2003.

.
What a load of horse crap. Both teams were much better with Brady than they were without him.

The reason Brady wasn't a Duncan or Shaq (he was actually better) was because he played for a college that invested in another QB who ended up not even being a NYFL caliber QB at all. If it wasn't for TB's clutch play bailing out Michigan they wouldn't have won what little they did.

I don't know why some of you can't appreciate both Tom and Bill and feel the need to criticize one or the other, but if I'm forced to choose between the two then Brady is a no brainer. He did it on the field of play, not on the sidelines.

like 2007 just came up on short end on a game decided on a few plays. (Welker drop, Manningham making an unbelievable grab inbounds.) I still feel it wouldn’t have come down to that with a healthy gronk.

teams may sneak in a sb championship from time to time but more often than not, a franchise qb is needed and definitely needed for long term success.
As much as I support Brady in this debate, it takes more than just a QB to win. A team can win it with a defense and/or a running game, even without a top QB.

Here's a partial list of QBs that won or made it to a SB;
Garoppolo, Goff, Foles, Ryan, Cant Newton, Flacco, Kaepernick, Eli Manning (won twice vs B&B), Rex Grossman (with Lovie Smith as his HC), Matt Hasselbeck, Jake Delhomme, Brad Johnson, Rich Gannon, Trent Dilfer, Kerry Collins, Bledsoe, Chris Chandler (who?) and Neil O'Donnell.

The 2011 Giants defense was also poor against the run, but our coaches decided to go pass happy. That decision cost me $100,000 when I forgot to get my $100 bet in at 1000/1 on a safety being the first score.
