I've noticed we've been kicking around various options for QB's that could be viable options available on the market in 2021. I figure it would be a good idea to compile a list of potential options.

Couple of notes. Some of these options have a lower chance of becoming available, but maybe have had rumblings around their situation where them being moved could become a possibility. Some of these options will also kinda suck. But hey, they will likely be available. I might miss a couple options here. If I do, let me know and I can add names to this list. This list will include draftable QB's and FA/trade candidate QB's. The only names I will exclude is Trevor Lawrence, as there is no way we will have a viable chance of getting into position to draft him. I'm also excluding the likes of Brees and Rivers, as they would likely retire before going anywhere else.

FA options:
Cam Newton
Jacoby Brissett
Tyrod Taylor
Andy Dalton
Mitch Trubisky
Dak Prescott (likely tagged, but if not would be top option)
Nick Mullens
Kyle Allen
Jameis Winston

Now a list of QB's who do not have a pending FA status, but could possibly be moved off of by their respective teams (some likely, some not so likely):
Ryan Fitzpatrick
Sam Darnold
Matthew Stafford
Matt Ryan
Jimmy Garropolo
Carson Wentz
NIck Foles
Kirk Cousins
Gardner Minshew

Draft options (I'll only stick with options who seem viable in the first 2 rounds for now) :
Justin Fields
Trey Lance
Zach Wilson
Kyle Trask
Mac Jones

With regards the draft options you've listed, I don't see us having a realistic shot at Fields, and of the others I only like Mac Jones, the other 3 have big, shiny bust written all over them.

Dalton. I’d only do Darnold if he publicly resigns from the Jets first.

Fitzpatrick is a UFA next season. Personally I'd add Mariota as potential trade target. 27 years, 10m 1 year deal with the Raiders.. certainly more talented than Minshew.. but then again even Stidham is arguably not that far from Minshew.

Generally speaking I'd add the current APYs to each of those players because the only way this conversation makes sense is through the prism of the salary cap.

If you can have Cam for a 8m contract his value blows almost everyone else on your lists out of the water with the combination of "no draft assets used", "cheap deal" and "preexisting experience makes him an easier projection". If the assumption is that Cam will try to get 15-20m the equation will shift into a different direction.

I mostly agree. Just listing options good or bad. Fields I think will likely be the #2 pick but it’s not 100% impossible he falls to QB 3 depending on how things shake out.

As much as Trask has all the mobility of a statue, I still like him. He sounds eerily like a young TB.
Trask is my pick too. He moves and slides in the pocket and thats fine by me.

If we're talking FA or trade for a vet QB who will actually be our guy for the next 6-8 years, I'd say Jimmy G or Wentz.
I think either would do much better with BB and this system, than current ones.
But, I'd still want to draft Wilson and keep Stidham - to see what shakes out. It's always a risk (especially with those injury prone guys)

MUST draft a QB early in the 2021 draft. 1st round preferably. After that, sign one of the FA QBs as a bridge QB. NOT Cam Newton.

Ehhh Brisett is not worth it. He's not starter material and he proved that in Indianapolis. Good kid and good leader, but the dude was given alot in Indy and they had a losing record while Luck and Rivers before and after him both had that team in the playoffs with a double digit win seasons (I'm boldly assuming Rivers can beat the Jaguars and Texans). I mean maybe if the only expectation is him as a back up if there is a worst case scenario.

But Brissett was given a 2 year 30 million dollar contract and I'm pretty sure we can extend Cam for less if we want a back up who can at least win a few games.

It's also not really addressing the primary issue anyways. We need a real starter. Honestly the only one's I could kinda see being worth it in free agency is Winston and MAYBE Dalton.

Dak won't be there and if he is he is going to ask for a fortune and we won't pay it. Stafford likewise is going to want a win now team and a huge contract that is loaded with guarantees. Ryan and Wentz both have toxic contracts.

Really if we can trade up in the draft we should start thinking about it

How many teams need a new QB next season? If there isn't a lot we still might get lucky and land one of Fields and Lance.

So far the only clear ones are Jacksonville and NYJ. Indy has a better record than we do so they can't take a top QB from us. Chicago maybe?

Go young, this franchise needs a fresh exciting and hopefully talented qb.

Tyrod Taylor to hold the spot for 1 year while whoever we draft learns our system.

I wonder what size contract Jameis Winston will command next season. At the start of free agency he was potentially looking at a max deal (it only takes one team) and after cap space dried up he took $5 mil per one season as third string for the Saints. I hope he has learnt a lot from Brees and Sean Payton.

We look at Brady now in Tampa and see how many interceptions he is throwing so Winston's 30TDs/30 INTs last season is more of a feature of the way the Buccs play. I'd be interested since he is young, proven talent and can sling it.

I doubt Coach Bill goes for him but with our O-line and strong running attack having a QB that can air the ball a great distance makes for some intriguing thoughts.

If Jets get number one pick and Lawrence leaves Clemson then Darnold's out of NYC but would the Jets trade with the Pats. Probably not. I'd kick the tyres on Darnold. Top tier talent should always be re-evaluated.

Stafford might get ditched by the Lions under its new coach/GM but he'll probably last a little longer in Detroit.

Matty Ice from BU would be an interesting choice but Atlanta would take such a cap hit it most likely won't happen. However, if the Falcons select a young QB in the draft.....

Wentz is staying in Philly whether they want him or not. It'd be ruinous to cut him. He needs to regain confidence in his legs but I imagine he won't be starting QB next season.

Andrew Luck - would be the guy if we could wrestle him out of retirement (and the Colts).

I wonder if another team will attempt to sign Cam to a richer contract than the Patriots will offer him. Seems unlikely but the Bengals might give him $20 mil for one season while Burrow sits out next season.

Based on who is in front of us in the draft.

1. Jets are definitley getting a QB

2. Jaguars are definitley getting a QB

3. Panther's will very likely get a QB

4. If a decent QB falls to the Falcons it will probably be time for them to think of life beyond Ryan

5. Broncos are almost guaranteed to go QB this draft.

6. Washington might get boxed out if they make the playoffs.... but Alex Smith is 36 and he likely won't be around by the end of a rookie contract

7. Eagles if someone falls to them are probable to go QB even though they have Hurts

8. Giants are in a similar situation as the other teams in their division in that they will either make the playoffs or probably will address a QB.

Lawerence/Fields/Lance will be the first 3 QB's to go. I think the Jets/Jaguars/Broncos snag them. Panthers will most likely take a 4th off the board. Are chances are really dependent on what the Falcons/and remaining NFC East teams do and if Bill is willing to take the 5th or 6th best QB prospect in the draft in the mid first round.

If there is such a rush of QBs going early in the first round I just can't see Bill select the 5th/6th best QB prospect with the first rounder. He'll go Dline or LB probably and then might try and get a similar QB prospect in the second round.

I'm not sold on the idea of the Panthers taking a QB in the first round. Washington do need a QB for the future as it seems it won't be Haskins but they might try and trade for Darnold or sign Jameis.
