So You're Saying There's a Chance: The 2020 Patriots Playoff Push

Pats are in this as long as they keep winning.

At minimum, what I'd like is for them to reach the last game of the season and still have a chance.

Pats haven't played in a regular season game where they'd been eliminated from the playoffs...

...since the finale of 2000. Think about that.

With the Bills win, the division race is pretty much over from our perspective. Current playoff odds are 14%. Ravens win tonight which is likely and playoff chances fall to 13%.

Next week looks better though. If the Pats beat the Rams our chances brighten. Raiders play Colts and Pats are chasing both. Ravens play a tough Browns team. Dolphins play KC.

That win didn't change the most likely path to the AFCE; running the table, plus Bills losses to Pitt (very possible) and Miami (50/50). The Bills losing to SF would have made it a lot easier, but it's not like that was the most likely outcome.

Bills have the steelers, pats, and dolphins to play... nobody honestly thinks the bills will beat GOAT COACH 2x in a year when playoffs are on the line and I'm a die hard western new yorker.... you saw the Arizona game right, and the Chargers game?

Not that sb1 is one of these, but there's a weird phenomenon in Boston that, no matter how good a team is, there will be a sizeable contingent of fans who are down on and complain about the team. We had a bunch of "fans" here complaining about one thing or another during the 45-0 pasting of the Chargers. Even BB doesn't carry enough credibility with these types. It is what it is.

Need to win all 4 games to have playoff chances.

Browns are in . Their schedule is easy and they just need 1 win from 4 games.

Raiders , colts, ravens : at least 2 will end at 10-6

Dolphins will end at 9-7

Best case scenario will be Buffalo losing all remaining games and all 3 of us ending at 9-7 with us winning over Buffalo and miami . That will give us the division. Highly improbable.

We need to win out last 4 games no other way. If we lose to rams , we have a 10 % chance of making playoffs even if we win out the remaining 3 games.

I dont think our team has any more talent than the bottom-dwellers of the league... just WAY better prepared. IMO our receivers and QB are the worst in the league and D is just OK outside secondary (middle of the pack, to be generous). I'd say on paper we are only better than the Jets and Jax in terms of "talent".

We have 2 all pros at corner and a Patriot Hall of Famer at FS. I think our secondary is top3 in the league at worst ?

Our secondary is great. Our Online is very good. Our RBs have been fantastic. STs are awesome. The issue is Qb, receivers, TEs. Those are crippling positions to be poor at which is probably why it seems to that poster that our roster is so bad.

Lamar looked great. Ravens schedule is cake the rest of the way except for at Cleveland next week. If they win that then they probably end up with 11 wins.

Actually that game probably didn’t matter because had they lost, lost to Pitt and us a 10-6 tiebreaker goes to buff.
if they lose to Pitt, us and Miami tiebreaker goes to us.

Sorry to be a nitpicker, but the Pats went 5-11 in 2000 and finished 5 games out of the last playoff spot.
The most incredible thing is that the Pats had the best record in the AFCE from 2001 thru 2019.
Unfortunately, that streak will end this year.

I don't think Miami's an issue. They have KC, NE, @LV and @Buf left to play.
Unfortunately, I don't see us catching the 8-4 Indiots or the 7-5 Ratbirds if we get the 7th loss.
If we run out we have a very good chance at a playoff spot because we'll have the tie-breaker vs 3 of the other 4 teams we're chasing and possibly the 4th.

This isn't the same old Bills. I doubt that the Pats or Miami will catch them.

Theyre not an issue if we win out, but if we drop one they would need to lose to either vegas who is playing awful right now or buffalo. If buffalo is playing to win im confident but if buffalo has everything wrapped up by then and decide to rest up/ not give 100 that could give Miami an easy win there.
