If the Jets are getting Lawrence, any chance we could be looking at grabbing Darnold and maybe a mid-draft pick? I hear Darnold showed a lot of promise, maybe he could make it work in NE handing off to White on 2nd and 20
No....Darnold....Sees ....GHOSTS!!!!!! !!!!

Football question: why didn't the Texans take a knee at the end of the game? Each one takes like 25 seconds and they had four downs with less than a minute to go.

Unless his injury was acting up.
If it's still that questionable, he sits and Michel gets to dress. Won't matter next week with Rex getting his knee blown up on a play that shouldn't have been called in the first place.

Hopefully McDummy repeats this numscullery 3 or 4 more times and BB sends him packing.

He really struggles with blitzes.
OL protection was not the best today or in many games but yes....he doesn’t adjust well to pressure....

I'm honestly kind of surprised at how much of a hard time people are giving Newton. The defense was atrocious and the reason why they lost the game.
Was a little bit of both but yes....crappy awful D tipped the scales

The TEAM wins and loses. Not the QB.

Why do you bring up changing the QB when you told me that Brady wasnt the reason for winning? Make up my mind.
I was asking a question, I mentioned in my post that the defense didn't play well also and we didn't play well enough as a team. Sounds like you're looking for an argument. I asked if we should play Stidham to see if he is our future qb. Don't know what your problem is and I'll it at that.

McDummy..... I love it....

Here's the problem. Mac isn't going to be a mid-round QB. Unless by mid you mean middle of the 1st-high 2nd. This is going to be a pretty solid draft QB wise, as far as depth looks. QB is one of those positions where you have to overdraft. Everyone needs one. Even the teams set at QB could use a really good young backup to groom and will select one high if the value is there.

In no particular order, you have Lawerence, Fields, Lance, Trask, Jones, Wilson all looking to go in the 1st and 2nd. If BB does not like any of these guys, then great! That should mean guys will slide down to us while other teams trip over themselves trying to get their next guy. If BB does have a guy that he likes though, and it's one of the guys listed.....he better be aggressive and just go get 'em.
The issue is more that you have to assume that Bill will grade all 6 of them as first rounders. Doubtful and Bill doesn't like to overdraft. Let's say we pick 8th. That guarantees Lawrence, Field, and Lance are gone. Highly possible the other is. Now all of a sudden you have to worry about drafting Jones or Wilson higher than you want or give every single QB needy team a chance to get them before you have a shot again.

The league has changes over the last 20 years. We just watched the Cardinals draft Rosen and the Murray. People aren't screwing around when it comes to QB anymore. They are shooting their shot until it pays off. You know who isn't? Elway in Denver. He's also in the hot seat.

We had 2 timeouts, so they couldn't run out the clock. Had they made a 1st down, they would have taken a knee.

Pats best units are the DBs and OL, yet I don't think any passes were broken up and there was constantly an unblocked rusher chasing down Cam.

Because you can't play it off past drafts. You have to look at the draft this year, where the QB's are projected and which teams need QB's. Rodgers for instance was a draft slide. A historically significant draft slide at that. People couldn't believe he didn't go top 10. If you are hoping for that, you are setting yourself up for failure. Brees came up in an era which much more height bias than today and to be frank he needed to go to the perfect offensive coach to maximize him.

Also it's foolhardy using Super Bowl QB's as your metric. Nobody on this site would be happy if we drafted Trent Dilfer and sucked forever waiting to build a historic defense. Same with Brad Johnson. Tom Brady is an outlier that skews the sample size significantly. Foles basically road a 2nd overall QB to a playoff berth where he then had 3 great games at the right time. Nobody here would want Foles either.

Aside from Lawrence why are you so insistent one of the QBs ranked #2-4 are the savior answer, with a pick between #6-10 ?? I'd rather the Pats not lose on purpose, go 7-9'ish, and let's put this roster through the grinder and find out which dudes we should keep after this year, who really has the potential and will to be a foundational future piece.

What happened to Cam running the ball? Teams are probably playing it a little differently now, but we barely see it anymore. If they're not going to take advantage of his running ability, they may as well go in a different direction.
I was just mentioning this to my brother....generally Cam would have taken off running MANY times today when the pocket collapsed but I don’t recall him running that much today at all....maybe BB afraid he will get injured!

Some things I saw gave me hope. Byrd seems like a keeper. He's not a #1 but maybe he can be a solid #2 In a championship team. Not elite but servicable, provide you also have playmakers at TE and RB who catch well.

I like what I'm seeing from our RT. He's been solid. Nice pick up. Overall they simply lack too much talent and a Great QB. The only thing that can fix that is a few good drafts. As recent history shows, the #1 overall pick isn't automatically the only spot where you can get a QB. Any time in the first 20 or so picks can give you a good chance in the right year.

Right now the NFL is QB rich which works in our favor, many teams would rather not invest a top 10 pick in a QB. They either have vets they are hanging onto or young guys they hope have upside.

I can only think of 2 or 3 teams that no question would invest a lot in a QB right now.
Byrd has played very well....he made several huge catches and plays today

I don't disagree. So if Mac would be the 6th QB chosen, why not go defense with our first pick and take Mac later. How many teams do you think will go QB in the first round this year? 5 QBs in the first round sounds very high
5 QB's does seem high, but it all depends on where each team has that player on their board. Here's my dumbass opinion on which teams could use a QB.
-Jets
-Jags
-Cowboys *I agree that this isn't likely, but we don't know how negotiations are going with Dak, and I could see JJ falling in love with a guy like Zach or Lance and pulling the trigger.
-Washington
-Giants (WC)
-Falcons (WC)
-Panthers (WC)
-Lions (WC)
-S.F. (WC)
-Minn (WC)
-Chicago
-Indi
-N.O.

All of those teams just need to fall in love with the right guy, and the Pats are at risk of competing with them for their guy. Again, assuming they have one graded that high. If they have a guy that they grade in the 1st to high 2nd, I say you take him and not worry about value. All of those teams know the Pats need a QB, and they are a threat to move back up into late 1st early 2nd to get their players. I say get your guy and move on.

I hope people realize that Cameron was 100% signed in attempt to make this season somewhatinteresting. Belichick knows his team is horrible and he also knows that Newton isn't the long-term solution.
Bingo. We didn't wait until a month or so before the season started to pick him up dirt cheap because he was the longterm solution

Stidham needs to start. I don’t think Cam will be happy about it which I would understand. If he isn’t, just release him.

Maybe Cam is worried about staying healthy with their playoff odds a longshot (4-5 with a slew of 6-3 teams ahead) before this dumpster fire of a coaching performance.

Cam seemed fine the prior weeks with Meyers as the safety valve on blitzes. But you insert crappy Harry and move Meyers off, it screws up where Cam goes on blitzes. NKeal Harry is so much of a negative on this offense.

.

Not looking for an argument when I know that I am right.

Brady made it look effortless and carried this team on his back.

They might get one or two more feel good wins like Baltimore last week, but parts of this team needs to get blown the f*** up! Front seven in particular. And Bill, do not address it with a f***ing DB with your first pick!
