Official Post Game Thread- Texans beat the Pats

1. The secondary is talented, but under-performing. Unfortunately, that's been true for large stretches of this season, and it was THE definitive reason the Pats lost today.
2. Close behind is the mind boggling play and player selection. James White with inside handoffs? Low percentage pass plays on first down? Harris with 11 carries? The run worked well on the first drive and then we said "welp, enough of that" and started slinging it on early downs.
3. The OL really struggled. Don't know what more to say.
4. The reffing was a little too ****ed for my liking, but way down the list of reasons. It was just annoying.
5. Those announcers sucked monkey ass. They were literally watching the replays and making up their own version while the facts were plainly being replayed in front of them. Horrible team. I guess we can expect to see more of these clowns now that we're considered a bottom-tier team.
6. They weren't perfect, but some of the young guys gave me hope for the future.

Whoever was in charge of the fake crowd noise for the Texans...somebody should tell them that a constant AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA is not needed.

A-****in-men. I had ear buds in (watching on the laptop) and that constant AAAAAAAAA in the left ear drove me nuts. Until I figured out it was the game, I thought maybe the guy next door was shaving his nuts with a dull razor or something.

Ths is why I think lancer needs to calm down. I don't think Trevor is the answer. Going back 25 yrs almost no #1 QBs were Superbowl winning QBs. I'd rather go 7-9, develop our young guys and be competitive, get rid of garbage like NKeal Harry/Sony/McDaniels, use our first rounder on DT/DE/LB, and develop a mid round QB like Mac Jones.

Here's the problem. Mac isn't going to be a mid-round QB. Unless by mid you mean middle of the 1st-high 2nd. This is going to be a pretty solid draft QB wise, as far as depth looks. QB is one of those positions where you have to overdraft. Everyone needs one. Even the teams set at QB could use a really good young backup to groom and will select one high if the value is there.

In no particular order, you have Lawerence, Fields, Lance, Trask, Jones, Wilson all looking to go in the 1st and 2nd. If BB does not like any of these guys, then great! That should mean guys will slide down to us while other teams trip over themselves trying to get their next guy. If BB does have a guy that he likes though, and it's one of the guys listed.....he better be aggressive and just go get 'em.

I hope people realize that Cameron was 100% signed in attempt to make this season somewhatinteresting. Belichick knows his team is horrible and he also knows that Newton isn't the long-term solution.

Yea. We had no chance with 26M in dead cap money thanks for Brady/AB plus 8 player opt-outs due to covid. Signing Cam made the season interesting

I don't disagree. So if Mac would be the 6th QB chosen, why not go defense with our first pick and take Mac later. How many teams do you think will go QB in the first round this year? 5 QBs in the first round sounds very high

McDummy and his incessant need to outsmart the league with his amazing passing schemes. He saw the stacked box and knew just what woukd get them! He's done this **** for years. He needs to go. He's destroyed the scouting dept with his WR/TE input, in case that human poop cap needs a feather. Cam would certainly approve!

One guy was a total clown. He was wrong so many times. He would call a play and be totally wrong. Did it way too many times. Who was that? It was embarassing how bad he was

I did wonder if that was a factor. It almost looked like White was literally plugged in to plays Harris should have been running.

Tough loss. We just didn't play as well as they did. Our defense wasn't great and we didn't make enough plays .I sound like Bill. lol

Not sure where we go from here. Is Cam the answer, do we play Sitdham? This one hurts though......

Yup. Time for a new OC. Zero development of tight ends. Insistence of getting Harry the ball but Harry sucks. He has an elite run offense but keeps trying to go for a WR spread offense. We need a new OC

And McDummy was the reason I didn't think it would work. Personnel would suggest he's a good fit. Talented OL, top flight stable of backs...yeah Josh, lets pitch it Rex on 3rd and 1, hand it to White on 2nd and 19! Brilliant!

I’m down. He’ll be out with injury in no time, though, with the length of time he will need to hold onto the ball in order to find someone open. But ****, we literally have nothing to lose by putting him in.

So over half of SB winning QBs were not first round picks. And among first round picks most were later or mid first round picks. So why are you freaking out if we pick 13th instead of 8th ? I don't even want us to go offense in the first round anyways, given how sh-tty I think McDaniels is at talent evaluation. Use our first rounder on DT/DE/LB. Draft Mac Jones later on at QB.

Because you can't play it off past drafts. You have to look at the draft this year, where the QB's are projected and which teams need QB's. Rodgers for instance was a draft slide. A historically significant draft slide at that. People couldn't believe he didn't go top 10. If you are hoping for that, you are setting yourself up for failure. Brees came up in an era which much more height bias than today and to be frank he needed to go to the perfect offensive coach to maximize him.

Also it's foolhardy using Super Bowl QB's as your metric. Nobody on this site would be happy if we drafted Trent Dilfer and sucked forever waiting to build a historic defense. Same with Brad Johnson. Tom Brady is an outlier that skews the sample size significantly. Foles basically road a 2nd overall QB to a playoff berth where he then had 3 great games at the right time. Nobody here would want Foles either.

The TD was underthrown badly. Bad throw, great adjustment, box-out and catch.

First down was huge and pretty much all on Cam and this board rushed to credit it all on Byrd

Been saying that for awhile. I get it ....Newton WAS a former league MVP and he was a very good QB.....he still shows flashes of brilliance but I think his shoulder is in worse shape and his delivery has changed (there have been some good analysis in the changes to his throwing motion and delivery) So my feeling now (and even a few weeks ago)....is that this team has so many holes and issues this year....lost a lot of key defensive personnel and playing the HARDEST schedule in past several NFL seasons. Why not let Stidham get in there consistently for at least a few games and SEE what he can do. Especially now....Playoff hunt most likely over so what do we have to lose?!
