Jamal Adams had 12 tackles and a sack for the Seahawks today...the Jete's 2 first round picks are desperately trying to figure a way out of being drafted by the perpetually flushing green toilet

2017-2018 First Round Picks

1. Mahomes
2. Jackson
3. Watson
4. Allen

5. Mayfield
6. Trubisky
7. Darnold
8. Rosen

Bolded - Jets passed on this player despite holding the pick, before trading three second round picks to move up a few spots to draft Darnold.
They weren't concerned, they had their safety of the future.

Dont think Gase will last the season ?

Dont think Gase will last the season ?

Good question. Too early though.

If they look that bad in November... he's gone before the season ends.

It was bad though. Real bad. Kinda like what you'd expect week 1 of preseason w/a brand new oline, new WRs who didn't practice at all (injured), and a new secondary.

Which is basically what that was.

Whereas Buffalo is basically the same as last year. Any teams with a lot of changes are at a big disadvantage this first month.

Only bright spots were the rookie LT looks legit, and our rookie draft pick punter has one hell of a leg (which is gonna come in handy).

Bills are for real! Watch out!!

I think Gaze will be this year's fall guy.

Darnit is in the Mariota Zone with an 80 QBR. Not good enough to win but good enough to make you wonder if he can be fixed.

Da Jete will find another jamoke to come in next season and coach Darnit, his 4th new coach in 4 years.

He'll suck again next year, then they'll find another mediocre talent to replace him, trade him off to the Bears for a day 3 draft pick, rinse, repeat.

Gase and Darnold both suck.

Seattle will win the Adams trade. They landed a perennial all-pro defensive back (so rare and valuable) and the Jets will get a couple of late first round picks that will be, at best, starters, and more likely busts.

Might be the boost Seattle needed to contend for a title again. As for the Jets, just more draft picks to bungle.

Loved Adams, but still really happy with the trade.

Maye, the other safety we drafted the same year as Adams, took over Jamal's spot.

2 sacks and a forced fumble yesterday. Not saying he's Adams, but still not bad.

Plus we save the $100mil deal Jamal will get.

Add in McDougald who's a solid NFL starting safety from Seattle, and the obvious two 1st round n 3rd round picks...

I mean how is that not a good deal in any scenario?

How? How long have you been a Rats fan? That deal is DESTINED to turn to shyt because...well...J-E-T-E...that's why.

I’ll go through the points:

Maye, the other safety we drafted the same year as Adams, took over Jamal's spot.

Maye was already a starter playing FS and now is being moved to SS where he is better. That‘s on the stubborn idiocy of the coaching staff to play a solid SS at FS rather than designing a defense to suit the team’s personnel strengths. The Patriots used McCourty and Harmon for years at FS at the same time.

They had a superstar and also very good safety. Now they have a very good safety only.

2 sacks and a forced fumble yesterday. Not saying he's Adams, but still not bad.

Again, Maye should have been playing a role that suits him for the past three years. Greg Williams stupidity on full display.

Plus we save the $100mil deal Jamal will get.

At some point every team will have to pay huge money to a few players. It’s better to pay that money to proven guys who fit into the team than high priced free agents like CJ Moseley and Le’Veon Bell. I mean, of Moseley, Bell, and Adams, which was the correct one to pay market for? We know the answer. Sure, you “save” the money, but this Is the one time when that’s not a good thing, when it’s a homegrown player who the franchise has been building around.

Add in McDougald who's a solid NFL starting safety from Seattle, and the obvious two 1st round n 3rd round picks...

McDougald is a classic guy you should be able to pick up as a FA who won’t break the bank. Shouldn’t be trading a superstar for a commodity. Of course two first round picks are enticing, but as I stated, I don’t think the return is likely to be worth it. Two late first picks are certainly not worth Adams’s original draft position (#6) and definitely not worth it considering he has emerged as an all pro at a young age.

Every year it seems that a team goes from worst to first. This year the jete are shooting for worst to worse.

On the bright side, the jete all-time record is only 6th worse in league history.

LOL, Jete beat writer slap down!

Cimini takes a stand for da Jete being able to pick and choose their beat writers!

Then ultimate NFL ball washer Chris Mortensen likes the tweet!

Yeah, but the pick used for Adams could have had Mahomes or Watson three years ago (!), and could have been using the last three years to improve instead of this being yet another rebuilding year, and getting draft capital next year and the year after that which may be a part of a rebuild or may be another Jete draft bust.

Actually this year can't even be called a rebuilding year because da Jete haven't done anything to make them any better than last year.

Next year might be better because Gaze should be fired and Bell should be cut, but that's addition by subtraction.

Oh yeah, one of the two SEA first round draft picks, but it's da Jete doing the picking and SEA won't be in the top part of the draft.

Smart thing to do would be to suck for Lawrence and give up on Darnit, but da Jete aren't smart enough to do that, they'll find ways to win games they should lose.

They'll end up with the fifth draft pick and pick the next Safety of the Future and wonder why they still suck three years later.

Meanwhile, in Jete Land:

There are many candidates, but I think my favorite Jets of all time, in terms of the joy they've brought me over the years in Schadenfreude, are Mike McCagnan and Jamal Adams. All Jets GMs in recent memory have been terrible in their own way, but McCagnan's constant power struggle against Bowles and then Gase led to a series of bad decisions which set the Jets back for a generation. Passing on the two best QBs of their generation in 2017 is probably the crown in his career, compounded on not using the Jets' 2017 resources to prepare the offensive personnel for the arrival of the chosen one, Sam Darnold.

That brings me to Adams. It's such a comfort when your rival team's unquestionably best player is someone you unquestionably own. Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu are both Hall of Famers, and yet we owned Polamalu while Reed gave us problems. Adams is like Polamalu except not as good and an objectively bad teammate to boot. The man drafted to change a locker room culture who quickly became a locker room cancer. A defensive back who's best skill is pass rushing. A guy who missed no opportunity to put himself before team. A guy you can take out of the game by scheming your offense away from him since he's most useful in doing non-traditional safety actions. Ask him to do just the things a safety usually does and he's below average. A guy who was 0-6 against the Patriots who never scored fewer than 24 points against his teams and who got worse as his career went on. Have you ever had the thought "Oh no! Because of that play by Jamal Adams, I'm worried we won't win this game!"? No, because that never happened.

Might Adams make some plays to help the Seahawks on Sunday? Yes, because now he's a piece of the puzzle rather than the savior. I wouldn't be surprised. I will miss Jamal on the Jets but look forward to seeing how they screw up the picks they got for him.
