It Is Belichick Time

This place is going melt down when Cam cant deliver the wins.

8-8 to 10-6 has a paper thin margin.
Perhaps. With the roster as it is, i certainly don't expect more than 8 wins. That being said, a melt down is fine. Many can go over to the TB boards. After a 6-10 season, many will leave, and that's fine. Others have been fans for 40 years and much more; they'll stay. And, of course, they are many fans that will experience their first experience of a team without much of a chance at the division championship. Many will stay, many will not.

I agree. BB's defenses have been highly overrated for years, but expect plenty of resistance from the board on that.

Belichick does more with less...so my post is in no way a knock on his ability to coach a defense. But look at all the quality defenders you guys loose every year. It’s insane. The fact he fields a B+ defense most years is a testament to his ability coach up average talent into his scheme

Who has had the least points against since 2001 ? Or in other words which offense had to generate the fewest points to win games since 2001 ?

Russell Wilson wasn’t around in 2001, but no quarterback has had more support

• 2012: #1 Scoring & #1 Total Defense
• 2013: #1 Scoring & #1 Total Defense
• 2014: #1 Scoring & #1 Total Defense
• 2015: #1 Scoring & #3 Total Defense
• 2016: #3 Scoring & #5 Total Defense

The team is very different from last season. I think BB is trying to be competive this season but also build for the future so even if we have a loosing season I am very hopeful that they can build from that. I might be watching the Dolphins game with a degree of worry but there will be many positives.

I don't get your point but ok let me rephrase to include this "dominance" and Russel Wilson for whatever reason.

What team has had the fewest points against since 2010 ? (and also most interceptions, most points off turnovers and so on). Hint, it is not the Seahawks.

He hasn't made any of substance in so long, I don't think he'll be starting now either.

Dude actually believes he can compete with this roster...

BB brought in AB last year a few weeks into the season. I thought that was of substance. Better have been at $9m guaranteed and $15m with escalators.

And I will admit to you that from what I’ve heard since Tom Brady departed, the Patriots did need a vibe change in the locker room because a dour Brady, which start to crop up at the end of 2018, took its toll on the Patriots last season. It was so bad that some of his teammates have admittedly privately that it was better for all involved that Brady moved on if he was going to have the same attitude this season.

I believe it. Ask the rookie receivers who Tompa Boy decided weren’t worth his time, or at least not as much as in Tampa right now. Couldn’t have been much fun for them and certainly didn’t help get their careers off to a good start.

If Brady was pixxed off it was because of 1 reason.

Brady asked for WR help and was basically ignored by BB.

Don't forget that when a reporter asked Tommy last year if he would be content to be a game manager if the season ended with another Lombardi trophy for the Pats, he wouldn't answer the question, which is the equivalent of a "no, I wouldn't be".

Putting quotes around your opinion and implying that it came from Brady is dishonest.

So y’all are calling Brady selfish now....gotcha.
Via BusinessInsider.com:

If Brady consistently signed deals equal to those of the biggest quarterback contracts, we found he could have made $257.9 million to this date. That is about $60 million more than his actual earnings, and approximately $9 million more than Peyton Manning made in his career, the most in NFL history
Believe it or not, that total is actually the conservative estimate. Business Insider clarified that he’s left at least $60 million on the table, but that the true total could be closer to $100 million. Brady has watched for nearly two decades as ballooning contracts have seen QBs like Joe Flacco, Jay Cutler and Derek Carr paid them in totals disproportionate to their capabilities.

Try since Wilson’s rookie year: 2012

N'Keal Harry, Josh Gordon, Antonio Brown and Mo Sanu. It didn't work out, but he was hardly ignored.

Demaryius Thomas, Maurice Harris, Bruce Ellington, Dontrelle Inman, Jordan Matthews, Kenny Britt, Eric Decker

The idea that the WR position kept being ignored in the last couple years is silly. Did they trade for fantasy football darlings ? No. They tried to get vets for specific roles. And for a handful of reasons most didn't work out. Sometimes it was because the player couldn't handle the offense, other times the player was toast and other times it was just bad timing like the DT trade a few days before releasing AB.

They clearly failed at improving the position but nobody can say they didn't try.

Nice attempt. Still the Pats. It really doesn't help your case to remove 2010 and 2011 from cumulative defensive stats.

Why are you so obsessed with the Seahawks ? They build a great little run off 2 absolutely bonker drafts that they were not able to replicate and have regressed to the mean ever since. They also sabotaged their own window with absolutely moronic trades for Harvin and Jimmy Graham. In fact, Seattle is a case study in how despite randomly striking gold twice its difficult to sustain success.

And he got paid back in deep teams that earned him rings. He got exactly what he wanted out of the deal so please stop trying to frame him as some kind of selfless martyr. Taking on smaller deals to increase the odds for success was as much a business transaction for him as running TB12 is.

And quite frankly more QBs should think like that especially because the marginal value of those additional millions is most probably lower than going to work for about more than a decade knowing you are competing and not just there for a paycheck.
