They have 70% of the jobs. What advantage do they have in being NFL players?
You mean to tell me a black man can't do any better than the next white coach for the Browns?
I like the idea of the proposal, but not the actual proposal itself. It is a conversation starter and should be a useful tool to get a better outcome than the Rooney Rule. Maybe a digger deep into the issue (if there is one) will emerge because of this proposal. There is a chance that the actual number of minority candidates is not as large of a number as the % of minorities in this country. More info is needed, but I like the idea of making sure the "good ole' boy" network isn't a substantial reason for the low percentage of minority hires. Good discussion everyone.
God? in CA? WTF. Atheism maybe, but God...hmmm?
If the Gods are in CA and NY, does that mean all the demons are in all the other states? These are big questions, thanks for the "heady" thoughts.
This is disingenuous, the number of african americans who play football compared to the coach ratio is the issue. And I don't think the proposal is a good idea, but this is just irresponsible use of stats.
You can’t really think that is an impressive list of coaches with experience and a track record of success and they have been consistently and blatantly overlooked for less qualified candidates.
The proposal is bad, but, goddamn, reading these comments, a lot of y'all are assholes. You mean to tell me a black man can't do any better than the next white coach for the Browns? Like someone else said, 70% of players are black, but somehow struggle to become HC. Same thing with playing at QB.
And before you jump on me, no, I'm not saying the league should be 100% black, but it is weird how in the most important roles on a team, in terms of leadership, whites dominate.
There should definitely be a multi faceted approach to improving diversity, but it should never directly affect the rules governing fair competition on the field.
I'd like to see on facet be a grooming program. Whether it is implemented in high school, college, recruiting players that don't get drafted or have short careers or any combo of the 3 it could be a real "game changer". Probably way too expensive for such a cash starved organization. <----Last line is sarcasm
Lots of people scoff at the idea of increasing diversity, but I think there would be a lot less resistence if it was done in a genuine, thoughtful manner. Unfortunately, that's not how the NFL does things.

If white people were being oppressed then you’d be right. It’s proven that people are more likely to hire people that look like themselves.
I think you're missing what's a good point though by that poster. If 70% of the players are black I think it's a little weird that super inexperienced white QB coaches are repeatedly jumping straight to Head Coach and only 2 of 32 head coaches are black. That does seem weird to me.

One black coach failed and had several awful seasons out of how many garbage white coaches? Eat a ****.Browns HC Hue Jackson won 1 GAME in 2 years for the Browns.
The racist Browns brought him back for year 3, but had to fire him mid season because he is a bad HC. In year 3 Jackson was 2 - 5 - 1 Total record 3 wins - 36 losses - 1 Tie
Take your racism horse5hit down the road.
You underestimate the value of a wide range of viewpoints within a group.
You criticized the browns for having a white coach. One black coach failed and had several awful seasons out of how many garbage white coaches? Eat a ****.

so much racism at QB that Patrick Mahomes, Cam Newton, jameis Winston, Russell Wilson, deshaun Watson, Lamar jackson, Jacoby Brissett, Dak prescott, kyler murray, Dwayne Haskins. Even Mariota started before getting benched.
I think Haskins was the only one that didn’t enter the season as a starter
That doesn't mean they have an advantage. There are specific reasons why African Americans go into certain sports. It has a lot to do with mentors and role models....It is a sign of the structural inequality in our socio-economic system. There have been a lot of studies, you might choose to look at and educate yourself. Or you can just half-arse it from the peanut gallery. They have 70% of the jobs.
So your a argument is that black people are being oppressed in NFL HC hiring? Can you give a couple examples of who exactly was oppressed? If white people were being oppressed then you’d be right. It’s proven that people are more likely to hire people that look like themselves.
