...and from 2009 to 2012, I felt very comfortable saying JE would have been very productive in this offense. Sorry you didn't see the same thing.

In 2012 he hadn't put the numbers up on the field so they weren't going to overpay. In 2013 they let him find his market and were correct in doing so and already had signed Amendola.

Of course he worked hard but he clearly was not ready to be the utility man that knows the offense inside out and can also run each route almost to perfection at that point. Similarly, he could not stay healthy at all.

And it is not only me that didn't see it but the BB and the rest of the front office as well. Again you just keep projecting Edelman's post 2013 value on top of what he was before 2013 and it shows hindsight bias.

If he was internally valued as anything even close to a major contributor -- like you are suggesting -- the team would have not let him take visits with the Giants over what amounts to a minimum contract.

This is not a DMac or HT situation where the team had one number in mind and let them take a FA tour and asked them to come back with their number. Nobody during the first wave of FA wanted Edelman including the Patriots.

In the end he signed a 740k one year deal with 50k in guarantees. This is not what someone who is valued gets offered. This is a camp body contract.

In contrast Dorsett -- who was a WR3/WR4 -- got a 2.6M one year deal with 500k in guarantees last year. And it is not like we can say that the team saw him as a big contributor either. Money talks.

I love Edelman but lets keep the facts straight.

So Sanu called this dude up to refer Harry to him lol. But it seems Harry is working pretty hard at it... the clips in the article look good. He looks even bigger than last year too. There is a quote in there about how he’s working extremely hard because “he knows he has to be the guy.” Looking forward to seeing Year 2.

The facts are straight.

Bringing in High, DMC and Dorsett into the JE situation is irrelevant and pointless.

Bill started him in 2012 and said the only reason he didn't start was WW was ahead of him.

I am very high on Harry. He has a good work ethic and is a beast with the ball in space. He’s big and physical and a threat in the red zone. They need to design overlaps, screens and motion to scheme him open.

In the NFL very few players can get open on their own. Harry should focus on understanding where the soft spots are in zones. So many of the Pats best receivers thrived on knowing how to beat a zone D.

You do not need blazing speed to be a great receiver in the nfl.

Hands being equal, you need three things to be a great wide receiver in the nfl:

1.) you need to be able to create separation.
2.) you must have high courage.
3.) you must have a qb that can get you the opportunity to catch balls.

take Dorset for example. He had 1 and 3, but failed 2.

with newly signed lee, I am hopefully that his problem in Jacksonville was 3 and not 1 or 2.

Harry had 2 and 3 last season, but not 1. Need to see much more in order to properly evaluate.
