Brady Loss Depression

Oddly enough, I'm not too depressed.

"Que sera, sera"

The world turns (at least so far).

I'll let him answer for himself. But you completely missed his point, which is blatantly obvious.

You are not the first person to be on the front lines, well you are not your wife is, of a historical tragedy.

He went to war, I know for a fact another poster you have tried to belittle in this thread has been in theater as well. I was stationed at the Pentagon from February 2001 until March of 2004...you are not special, or your wife rather, situation is not as special or unique as you are trying to make it out to be. Again appreciate what she is doing, but many of us have sacrificed during historical times and don't come here calling people dipshits and meatheads.

Particularly ignorant to make those statements to someone who raised their right hand to defend your right to spew that garbage.

You should probably get off the board for a bit and find some way to relive your stress.

who the f*ck are you talking to? your response to my post seems disconnected/irrelevant to what I said

This was my 2nd tank from the same mfg. Brand new one w/ lifetime warranty installed 2017. 1st one leaked in 2019 and last week I came home from golf, went downstairs as Mrs RW asked to get some milk from the overflow fridge and smelt plastic burning. Saw a little smoke coming out. Hit the breakers to the tank and threw some Arm & Hammer on the fire i got from the fridge. Thankfully the fire was small.

NFWIH I went with the same tank a 3rd time so went w/ a different brand. $1600 but he says i'm the 5th one this happened to so he thinks they'll cut me a check for the cost of the new tank (mfg afraid of lawsuit I guess). Thankfully my plumber is a good friend of mine and hes not charging me labor.

Brand was HTP.

Compared to the world's problems right now, very minor but its annoying as hell.

thanks for reminding me......mine is due

@Patsgofor4

The original Coronavirus thread got shut down, but I can tell you that about 90% of the posters were taking it very, very seriously and there was backlash for those who were still downplaying it. One of the posters there is in Italy.

The “you’re in to make money” sentiment is also not shared by many. Being a doctor is often at a great sacrifice, and there are better ways to make a ton of money.

Thank you. I have been trying to avoid bringing my stress to the site but that post really got to me (I still don’t retract that post). I am legitimately terrified that my wife is going to get sick, because Massachusetts could be just like New York State two weeks from now. I’m going to log off and stop posting at this point. I know that many of you will miss my brilliant insights about how to build for 2020 but it’s for the best, for the time being. I will still lurk from time to time, to keep updated on any breaking news.

I’ll leave you guys this, as a warning to not let your guard down.

these days I can't be sure.......

Yeah, I’m totally making this just about me. Hit the nail on the head there, Private.

“Many doctors and nurses who work in ER and ICUs are doing the same.”

“Here’s a message from the two of us and all doctors, nurses, nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, respiratory therapists and hospital ancillary staff”

“but haven’t donated to a local hospital. How about your family and friends? If you do maybe it’s time to do the right thing.”

What am I doing at home posting on this site?
Like many across the country, I am stuck at home far more often than I want to be. I am not seeing patients in the office and cannot do (and should not be doing) elective procedures, so as not to contribute to the spread of the virus. I still go to the hospital when I am on call for my specialty and when emergency procedures necessary. The cases that I perform are some of the highest risk for transmission of the virus. I am self-employed and have stopped taking a salary so that my staff can continue to be paid in full, along with their benefits. I am still seeing patients from home using telemedicine. I am fully aware that my wife and I are far luckier than others financially and can weather this storm in the short term, but that doesn’t mean that it is not stressful to have a $15,000 bill to pay for overhead every month with virtually no money coming in. Trust me, I would love to be the one going into work in the areas of highest exposure, if it would mean that my wife could stay home but that is not how medical specialties work.

It is interesting that you list “make money” first when talking about why I may have gone into medicine. It reveals your bias about doctors, that we choose our profession because of money. It also reveals your ignorance. I could say that you chose to go into the military and now work on the border because you are not smart enough or did not work hard enough in school, so your options were limited, that would also be ignorant and unfair. The fact is that many doctors could have made made a lot more money and simultaneously have had an easier lifestyle, with less training and without the medical school debts, not to mention the constant risk of frivolous lawsuits. There are some doctors who are money hungry and do abuse the system for their financial gain but that is a very small percentage. Five years ago I resigned from the medical staff of a hospital out of protest because administration refused to get ride of a physician who was practicing poor quality, unethical medicine. That decision probably cost me a minimum of $100,000 due to disruption of my practice.....so to answer your question, no, I did not go into medicine because of money.

As for your question about empathy, I have an abundance of it. I have empathy for those who are sick or who have died from this terrible virus, for their family members and close friends, for the healthcare workers putting their lives at risk and whose government is failing to protect them and for those who have lost their jobs and are struggling to pay their bills. That means that I have no empathy left over for someone who can’t stop talking about how tragic it is that we lost our aging, declining quarterback.

“Having been in actual combat/war”.....Do you actually believe that you have to hold a gun in order to be an actual combat/war? If you do then you really are a meathead.View attachment 26563
This came by email today. You don’t think that the people working in those ERs and ICUs in New York City are at war? There is no difference between what is going on in those hospitals and what you consider to be “actual combat”. There is no difference between a nurse or physician being exposed to an infected patient without access to the proper protective equipment and a soldier going into battle without his/her protective equipment. I/we (physicians) would never minimize the risk that that those in the military face and the sacrifices that they make, so you should be ashamed if you do the same for healthcare workers.

“This temporary event (this is not the end of days, it is a virus)”. Of all the dumb statements in your post, this is the dumbest, and the most dangerous. You have been listening too much to President Dotard. It shows you don’t have a ****ing clue what is going on right now, probably because you have not been affected by it yet. It sounds like you are still in the “this is overblown” phase or maybe you’re still stuck in the “this is a hoax” phase. If you were younger you probably would’ve been one of those idiots partying on the beach in Florida for spring break, before bringing the infection back to your home community. Wake up, dip sh*t (and any of you who liked his post) before its too late. I’ll tell you a little secret....it may already be too late.

One last post: Maybe you should reread my reply to MassPat38. I never belittled his military service or anyone else’s, nor would I.

As for your last sentence, I agree. Stay safe everyone.

Same to you and your wife

I saw a post upstream that accused some of us of lamenting the loss of Brady. I don't see it that way. I see us as celebrating his time here instead. He was very special and his accomplishments will never be equaled.

I think most people are anxious and depressed about the pandemic. To the poster who mentioned about his wife being a pulmonologist in the ICU and very much at risk...I completely feel for you and understand your frustration and anxiety and will hope and pray for best possible outcome for you and your family.

When people are hurting many are seeking an outlet or just a way to stop thinking about the tragedy unfolding before our very eyes. This board is one such distraction. I think its fine for people on this board to focus on mundane and unimportant things as a way to lighten the load they are feeling from everyday life in 2020.

Yes, of course the Brady situation is a big nothing burger in the grand scheme of things.....but lets not take away this distraction if people want to drone on about it....

Harmless distractions are a good thing for all of us.

The Patriots with Brady have overshot any kind of sane expectations from 2000 so much that I kind of just can't be mad about it finally ending. He's 42, he's played for the Patriots for 20 years, 219 wins, 30 playoff wins, 6 Super Bowl wins, NFL 100 All-Time Team. He's gonna be 1st Team All-Decade in back-to-back decades. It's just crazy.

In all seriousness, if Brady had retired after Super Bowl 49 at 37 years old, I would have considered his run basically perfect. Super Bowl 51 and 28-3 was sheer madness, Super Bowl 53 was just making the rubble bounce.

Yeah, you are. You're a Jets fan.

Actually, if we have a season this year, I think Sam will earn his spot as the AFC East's best QB.

I'm pretty optimistic now.

Yeah, yeah... I know. Like every offseason.

Jets AND former USC QB? That's some historic odds to overcome, my friend.
