REPORT: Tampa is Brady's Likely Landing Spot

I want him to succeed. Win.

But what I would hate to see is him struggle with a new system for 2 years and end his career on a low note in that uniform in that city....puke

Yup, you're right . . . IF

1. He adapts to Tampa personnel and playbook.
2. He doesn't get injured.
3. He plays like he did at age 40.

Good luck with that. Sorry.

I’ll skip the adapts yo playbook nonsense and injury cause anyone could get hurt. He doesn’t even need to play like 40 yr old Brady, we were last in WR separation last year how do you pass judgment with that glaring state. He’ll have an elite WR group to go with two TE one with massive potential to be elite. Compared to an injured Edelman and whatever the hell BB decided to put at TE, really don’t improve that position and expect someone who retired to comeback mid season.

Watch what Brady does with the talent they have in TB. It will prove all of us "BB you are wasting the Brady years with inferior talent" people right.

He chose to play in a hideous stadium ,wearing those hideous jersey. I won't be supporting him. Between him and Belichick, may the best goat win.Though I suspect Bill will prevail.

Perhaps. There is also a chance they go 6-10 and score 19-22 pts a game. Then what ?

No they didn't. I'd rather they have not signed Thuney or DMac or release/restructured someone else than release Brady to save $7m.

BTW it makes even less sense for 2020. Brady's cap hit is $13m and we'll likely sign a backup or competition for Stidham who will cost $5-6m. We'll end up at $18-19m cap hit for this QB slot. Instead they could have taken Tom on a multi-year deal with voidable years and spared us the cap hit.
Well, as you see BB doesn't agree with you. Clearly they wanted to keep DMC and Thuney and the fact that Tom is gone points to BBs evaluation of Tom as a 43 year old football player.

Not saying BB is right/wrong but its plain as day how the man is thinking. I understand why fans don't like it.

The fact is a) Tom didn't want to be here and b) BB didn't think he was worth big money and a multi-year deal. He wanted to keep one of the best FSs and OGs in the NFL instead.

Time will tell if he made the right choice.

If you think this offseason is tumultuous, wait till 2021.

Ugh just waiting for the official announcement so we can get this over with.

Also, guess it's time to change my sig. Guess I jinxed Tom to Tampa?

What’s going to happen in the 2021 offseason? The only big name player whose contract is up is Hightower (or Thuney if they don’t work out an extension). You think Belichick is leaving?

Both Thuney and Hightower will likely be extended THIS offseason since both transactions would add significantly to the 2020 cap money available.

JE11 will be gone. Gilly gone or restructure. Chung gone. New Qb if Stidham tanks. High gone (maybe this year if he won't do an extension)DMC & JMC gone.

I took a shot on a 25 dollar wager for Tampa Bay to win the SB. If I win, it pays 800 dollars. Hard to pass up those odds.

The Patriots already have a backup for Stidham. His name is Cody Kessler and his cap hit is $910K. They'll draft another QB and bring in some veterans to see what shakes out.

It's too bad Jameis Winston is a turnover waiting to happen. He's gifted, but hasn't made the transition to reading defenses and throwing the ball where only his receiver can get to it. I doubt Belichick would be interested.

Mitch Trubisky, on the other hand, is an interesting option for the Patriots if the Bears would eat his signing bonus. He's smart, can make the throws and had success in Chicago. Would better coaching help him take the next step in his 4th year? Maybe.

The knocks on Trubisky was his pocket awareness and struggle at times to read the defense. He also was timid last year with turning loose the deep ball. That's a confidence problem that can be fixed if Josh is calling the plays. He can definitely make all the throws and earned his 1st round draft pick at Carolina by moving the chains with throwing quick slants and crosses to a group of receivers who could read defenders at the line of scrimmage.

It's gonna be an interesting year around here. I'm looking forward to it.

Offensive line sacks/pressures are quarterback stats as much as actual blocking stats.

See: Solder, Nate.
See: Brown, Trent.
See: 2011 Broncos vs. 2012 Broncos
See: Watson, DeShaun

Good bet there. Could hedge later on too.

You think so? Edelman and Chung’s contracts both run through the 2021 season; I suspect if Edelman is gone it’s now via a trade rather than next year, and Chung will only be gone if he looks done. Gilly’s contract is very affordable in light of the anticipated cap explosion and he’s still the best CB in the league. JMac isn’t under contract for 2021, you’re right there. However I strongly doubt the Pats set up DMac’s contract the way it is if they just planned on his being here for one more season.

Hightower I could see leaving if he’s not happy about his LB buddies going off and getting paid, and if BB thinks injuries have taken their toll on him. I think he’s a guy BB really likes though; he’s called him Mr. February and you know what that means to BB.

I don’t feel super confident that they’ll play football this year, but it’s better than wasting the little bit of money that I had left in my account on stupid table games. No use having it in there with sports currently canceled.

On that note, I still have about 5 bucks remaining to waste on table games, and my comeback is going to be one helluva story. :D

Of course i'll be wrong on a couple but every player I mention is/will be over 30 and represent a significant cap savings if not on the team or if their deal doesn't change in 2021.

I think Bill wants to go 2010, get young and have a ton of cap space.

If Stidham can be a top 10/15 QB they'll be back in the playoffs in the near team.
