I want Patriots 23rd pick to be either of these 2:


Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon: Nothing surprising about Herbert's athleticism or his throwing prowess Thursday night. The ball came out very well and the placement was plus. The arc on his deep throws was impressive. Receivers didn't have to work too hard to bring in his passes, whether on in-routes or speed outs. The Oregon product was also smiling and joking during the workout, showing plenty of personality. Yes, everything was against air, but I've seen other talented passers look far less polished in the same situation. Mission accomplished.

Harrison Bryant, TE, Florida Atlantic: Bryant not only ran well (4.73 40), but he was the most consistently smooth mover during the various position drills, just besting Dayton's Adam Trautman (4.80 40, 6.78 three-cone) for this spot. He adjusted to throws all around him, snatching the ball with strong hands, while also moving quickly around cones with impressive footwork. Bryant also was one of the few tight ends to push the blocking sled, staying low and moving his feet while others pushed the sled upward and failed to generate movement.

Said it before but if there is no one available - worth taking at 23. Following teams plus Miami have multiple 2nd's.

• I'm hoping Cinci calls more than anyone. I'm looking for a 2021 1st but they have 33 & 65. We could easily trade up into the 2nd again if we wanted and would still have at least one 3rd.

• Indy has 34 & 44. Man I'd love to have those in my pocket. Especially in this draft. Big time value. You're still in the heavy talent pool and have two shots at it!
• ATL 47 & 55. Two top 55 picks.
• Chicago 43 & 50

I disagree with this strategy 1000 %. We’ve done enough of this through the years leading to bypassing really good players and winding up with horrible drafts. 23 is a sweet spot, some GREAT prospects left at 23. If they wanna trade for a 2nd, they have three 3’s.

I suspect they are targeting someone on #23 (may move up). If they cannot, I think they will move into 2nd round.

I disagree with this strategy 1000 %. We’ve done enough of this through the years leading to bypassing really good players and winding up with horrible drafts. 23 is a sweet spot, some GREAT prospects left at 23. If they wanna trade for a 2nd, they have three 3’s.

It all depends who's on the board. I'm not opposed to moving up if someone like Simmons falls, like James did a few years back. Or if someone we have a high grade on is there at 23.

I think we'll have a small list of 1st Rd grades though.

Extremely focused. Loves the game. Loves his role as a LB, tone setter. Intense. Play-making speed. 6'2/240 4.5 speed. Makes plays at/behind the los. He's someone you want in today's game and teams will love his attitude imo.

LB is an early surprise pick. I wouldn't be surprised if we went there with Baun, Queen or Murray. Or someone else late like Baily.

Adam Trautman was second at the combine in the 3 Cone drill that’s the kid we’re taking add that to his smooth routes and willingness to block. I’d pair him with Delanie Walker (it released) or Eifert whoever is cheaper

I can't imagine teams not loving Murray. Dude is exactly who/what you want when talking about a draft pick. Professional. Wants to lead and be the tone setter. Lived in the opponents backfield.

Queen is so new to the position, former RB. Plays with savvy and poise tho. Smooth, explosive. Has a lot to learn, esp in coverage but he's another guy built for today's game. Sideline to sideline range. 4.5 speed gives him a lot of potential in space - flat, underneath, seen etc..

I've been saying Baun is a potential KVN replacement all year. Jack of all trades. Good in short area, can really move and maneuver around the traffic. Good upper half flexibility. Can rush the passer, pretty skilled, with a decent bag of tools. +Hands in that regard. Plays like a smart player. Quick on his feet in space. Counters on his rush. Doesn't seem panicked. Patience but has a very quick, very nice first step. Lots of burst.

I think all 3 will be top 50-60 prospects for us.

Thanks again to all who contribute to these type of threads. Since I don't follow college football closely this is the first I'll hear about most of the players.

I'm thinking about tracking the choices that many of you make here so I can come back later and applaud you or snicker at you. The only problem is that it takes years for some players to develop as NFLers.

I've probably watched more Mims and Reagor than any other WR prospects out there.

Mims has been balling since day 1, which matters. Early production.

One of the more physical WR in the class. Off the line, catch point, blocking. Very physical. He'll make you throw a flag every play. Very good blocking WR. + effort.

Insane catch radius. Absolutely nuts. High, low, out wide. He's so good here.

Decent r/r. Great on 9's. Knows how to stack and does a great job using his arms and stride length to keep the DB at a distance. + tracking ability. Great on back shoulders. Fades. Not the most sudden guy getting in/out of breaks.

Has to improve playing and working against press. Allows it to eat him up too easy at times. Has to be more accurate and consistent with his hands

He's a worker. You can see that as clear as day. He's not going to shy away from a challenge.
Multi-sport athlete in HS. 4 sports I believe including basketball and track. Played QB.

Played under multiple QBs and coaches. Been a adventure since HS and at Baylor with everything going on there.

He fits our type in terms of testing and exceeded the important #'s. 3 Cone, Broad jump, Vert.

Only problem, if you wanna call it that is that Harry is supposed to be that guy. The big physical X who can beat you up on offense.
You'd have 2 big, physical targets. Probably only works if Harry can contribute elsewhere like the slot, motion etc and if Mims can win outside at the Z.

Mims is lighter at 6'3/207 4.38. Just about same arms, slightly bigger than Harry. Harry put up a crazy 27 reps at 225lb compared to Mims 16. 27 is nuts for position and length. Both jumped 38.5. Mims had a better jump 131. Insane 3C at 6.66.

This was Harry. I got just under 7. Around 6.90 which isn't bad at all for Harry.

Trading our 2021 1st in addition to our #23 won't be enough to move up for Herbert.
