Keep Dorsett. He's a fine 3 or 4 and he won't be expensive. We still need somebody else, but he can play the Lafell type role we used to have.

I am assuming Dante will retire. This means that no longer can Pats turn JAG OL taken off the scrap heap into capable quality starters.
The rebuild should start by focusing on getting a Physical and big overpowering OL. That will probably take 2-3 more years between draft and integrating last year's draft picks into the line.

  • I would like to see 1st round draft pick either a LT or a Center to start.
  • the TE position is a complete mess. Izzo and Lacosse will both be hopefully gone, but I hope BB decides to invest 1-2 draft picks on a couple of dynamic TE's. The draft is deep this year and hopefully they can be picked up in the third round. I can not se e Pats being competitive for top tier UFA tight ends this year given their cap situation.
  • I would definitely keep Sanu, even if we have to pay him 6M. For next year I doubt we will get any top tier WR talent and we gave up a 2nd rounder to get him. Too early to dump him now. I do not see Harry as developing into a #1 receiver that is for sure. They need to look for some savvy inexpensive veterans who can run routes off the scrap heap
  • We need to get a big bruiser running back, someone like Blount. I would look for a low priced FA here or 3rd day draft pick. I am not sure Develin can come back long term from the neck injury. If not Jakob Johnson will be in play.
  • I think Thuney is good and very reliable but he is not the 2nd coming of the messiah. If he gets better offer in FA then Pats can afford I think we should let him go.

Which free agents we resign on offense depends on rehabbing players.

If Andrews, cajuste and frodholtz are coming back healthy, then it is doubtful any are resigned unless we need cheap depth players.

if Andrews can not come back, then we need to draft the Wisconsin center in the first round and draft van Lenin the Wisconsin left tackle in the fourth round and move him to left guard.

An o line of Wynn, van lenen, former Wisconsin center, healthy mason and cannon and we can run the ball on anybody, while protecting Brady reasonably well,, Cajuste, fradholtz and maybe ferentz and newhouse and we are set on the o line.

that's a fine plan if the patriots can designate who they will draft in what round.

Sure, we could use a comp3rd or a 4th on a RB. It does seem unlikely. I see OL, WR, TE, S and LB as higher priorities. Obviously, we might be drafting another QB.

It really depends on what they think of Harris. If they don't think he's an NFL back, they will have to look for one somewhere.

FA.

It's one way to go, but the problem there is finding a FA who's willing to ride the pine week after week, and to serve as the equivalent of an emergency QB, but who's still good enough to impact the game if/when he plays.

Man, I would love to keep Karras and Thuney. But realistically, we can probably only keep one.

Derrick Henry is a free agent. Just sayin’.

I think Dorsett is the only “maybe”. Especially if Karras gets starter money. I was really disappointed in Dorsett this season. I thought he’d be more of a contributor. Didn’t expect Hopkins, but did expect more.
Can’t see Karras getting starter $. He’s a good short term back up, but I wouldn’t want to intentionally make him a starter. Thuney is solid, solid, solid, but I’m not sure he gets a huge contract offer.

If there was ever a running back to open the wallet for . . . . But I bet he gets franchised if not signed. I don’t think the franchise tag for RBs is huge.

I can see Karras getting starter money. Just not from NE. You forget just how dumb many GMs there are.

Bill can negotiate.

Presuming that Andrews is back, Karras would be a backup OC and will compete with Froholdt and a draftee for reps at LG.

Bill pays good money to backup OL's. Cannon was an example.

Newhouse could be brought back for depth behind cannon. He did ok when filling in at rt.

Dorsett if there are not multiple better options brought in, i dont mind him but it’s probably not a good sign if hes back.
Newhouse was ok filling in at RT?

I’m of the opinion that Cannon is not playing as well as he did in previous years...I think he is declining and it’s not all about injuries...some of it is age as well. I think RT should be the priority...then LG with Thuney most likely gone. However I think Frohouse (not to be confused with Newhouse) will eventually be a very good starting LG...I’m just not sure if that’s 2020. Karras...he got better the more he played. I’m ok with rolling the dice with either him or possibly Andrews coming back. Btw Mason wasn’t exactly world beater his 1st season starting. He had issues in pass protection...as we all know.

When you say “blow up our entire offense”, who do you replace from the starters and where do these replacements come from?

two letters bruh

A B

:D

Not sure if it’s legit or not, but there was a stat line going around regarding his last 6 games where he didn’t give up a sack or a pressure.

@patsinthesnow do you remember posting this, by chance?

I could see the Pats making an offer to Karras instead of Thuney in a value-type move, but I agree with you that another team may simply offer more and they’ll be forced to let both go. I can’t see them paying top 5 money at both guard positions.
