Josh McDaniels News and Rumors

You are right....and sometimes that’s a problem...but you are right....but Josh isn’t going to Cleveland....and will probably be head coach in a few years when BB leaves....he’s just too predictable and has rarely made good adjustments imho

Amazing job by BB and the team to win 3 Lombardis with this millstone around their necks

There are a few that deserve a look....Sarkisian, Lombardi, maybe even Gruden or even Gase if he gets fired ....some of these former HC that can’t cut it as HC but were great in role of OC might be worth a look....

Good gracious. That's a who's who of offensive coordinators I want nothing to do with. Sarkisian especially.

Why do people keep saying this? Did Chip Kelly screw himself when he did the same thing to Tampa? Did Parcells screw himself when he did the same thing to Tampa and Atlanta?

No. If people see you as a coach that can get your team to a Super Bowl, they will hire you. The whole "because Colts!!!" thing was a kneejerk reaction by a couple of anonymous GM's in February 2018 that keeps getting ressurected by anti-Patriots media so they have space in their column filled to generate clicks.

As annoyed with Josh as I was the last couple weeks, if he stays I think it goes a long way keeping Brady here. So I hope to God he stays. And if he doesn't I hope he chooses his next destination wisely. Cleveland is a place coaches go to die. He would be blowing his chance while that idiot owns the team.

Those other guys accepted the job, hired a coaching staff, then backed out?

McD imo F'd himself when he screwed the Colts the way he did.
I know that some people feel this way but I don’t agree. He’s a proven top level candidate to be an NFL head coach. He might have pissed the Colts off something terrible, but I don’t see why other teams would blacklist him.

I don't think it was just pissing off the Colts. I think it was the fact that other assistant coaches also signed contracts with the Colts to be part of his staff and the Colts were then stuck with those contracts when he bailed. I'm sure that pissed off other coaches too along with being a red flag with other organizations.

It must have played a role in the Giants hiring process when they decided to go with a Belichick disciple in Joe Judge whose resume is nowhere near McD's.

From what I'm reading on the Browns side it will be very surprising if they don't pick Josh. Very possibly as soon as today.

Aside from "Brady Watch" it will be fascinating to see where this coaching staff goes. Will someone be announced as DC? Who will replace McDaniels (even if they don't get the title)? Lots of layers have been lost recently with the assistants Flores took. Brandon Daly leaving. It's a hollowed out staff and Bill prefers to develop not hire from the outside.

It’s between McDaniels Stefanski and Schwartz.
If Josh goes you can all but kiss Josh goodbye.

Joe Judge received glowing letters of recommendation from the two greatest coaches of our era, where he happened to have experience under both Nick Saban and Bill Belichick. That says a lot. He also was showing versatility by coaching two different units in STs and WRs during this past season.

McDaniels, on the other hand, has proven to be a failure as a head coach with the Broncos. I’m just not sure that his change of heart with the Colts 2 years ago is what’s holding him back as you claim. After all, he had plenty of opportunities to leave again last offseason too, with a good handful of teams showing interest.

Sarkisan? Are you kidding me?

Hilarious. If you think those are good coordinators you know nothing about coordinators.

If he goes to Browns and beats us do we get to see this again?

Yeah, coaches who aren't successful the first time won't be succesful the second time around

Is this a Belichick reference? If so, it's not a very good comparison. He was actually pretty successful the first time around considering the Browns fate since then. He's arguably partially responsible for the Ravens starting their franchise history so well.

Yup, that's the way everyone saw it at the time.
