So then the alternative explanation is that the Saints are wasting time, money, and resources working him out for absolutely no reason whatsoever since he will just be suspended. Stop and think about it. Do you honestly believe that? Furthermore, why would the NFL want him off the field? More talent is better for business.

Maybe privately, but Brady wouldn’t say **** about it to the media. He’s too much of a pro for that. If he still wants to play going into the offseason, that might hurt the cause of resigning him for one last run just a bit. But I don’t see where else he would go. Belichick has proven that he’s been able to get this stuff right eventually in the past. Their working relationship has also reportedly gotten back on track after a rocky few months there. Hell, if Kraft really was behind this and the dude signs, is allowed to play, and helps the Saints in the playoffs, BB himself might have a sour taste in his mouth.

He technically cant be on the exempt list because he is not on a team. There is a reason the Seahawks signed gordon instead of him.

I just read Thomas may have a hand injury. Not sure the extent of it, so this may make sense for them.

Can't understand the group of posters here that have a fixation and hatred towards AB. By all accounts the guy worked hard and got along in the locker room, good teammate.

No player has been placed on the exempt list based on a "civil case" lawsuit. Goodell would be setting a precedent just as they are trying to negotiate the CBA.

The owners will make an example of Brown because what he did would set a harmful precedent for their business interests, far outweighing the few extra eyeballs that he might attract this year.

Considering the timing, if they’re going to suspend him, he will be suspended next year too. They’re also not working him out right before the playoffs with an eye toward next year. They could have done that in the offseason. This is move that reeks of something short term to provide a boost to the offense before the playoffs start. The owners only care about that revenue coming in. Brown helps rake in that revenue by putting asses in seats and bringing increased ratings. Similarly, Owens was a horrific teammate that made a spectacle of himself over and over again. He still got signed throughout his career until he lost that talent.

The whole thing falls apart if players act out like Brown did without repercussion. Owens was a pain in the butt, I’m sure not a favorite of the owners, but never pulled a stunt like AB did in Oakland/LA/LV

That's an oxymoron.

Again, he's not playing this year. They'll work him out now, sign him if they can agree on $$$, and he will be on their roster next year. They put a clause in the contract that if he faces charges, they walk away from the contract - same way Kraft kicked him out the door the moment he got a whiff of him possibly facing charges. The contract includes clauses to protect teams in such scenarios. He if gets suspended, it's more than likely for no more than 4 games or so (for misconduct) - assuming he not facing charges. And in that case, you can expect to see him in the Saints line up starting week 5 next year.
