“Peel his cap” does not mean “take out his knee.”
Right. It means to take out his head.

The quarterback should be allowed to get his head taken off if he goes out to block. That’s the risk you take.Right. It means to take out his head.

You understand that “take his head off” does not necessarily imply that defenses should be hitting him illegally, correct? Brady should get trucked whenever he blocks. That he doesn’t speaks to the pure volume of respect he has from players around the league.Should be allowed (from a legal standpoint), and should have his head taken out (as encouragement/suggestion) are 2 different things.

This guy needs to join Chris Carter.
You'd think people wouldn't get all wiled up about this considering how one of the many options people on this site comes up with stopping the option play is lighting up the qb.The quarterback should be allowed to get his head taken off if he goes out to block. That’s the risk you take.
When a QB involves himself in a play, in a way that's not standard to the QB, defenders should beat the hell out of him. That's always been the line of thought, and for good reason. Why are you trying to make that out as a problematic take?
What goes through a defender's head while involved in a tackle with a QB is vastly different than some ex-player puppet recommending from his couch. That's no different than Bountygate, minus the rewards.
OP is a boomer (I believe), Ron.
Eh. He doesn’t hate him. Sharpe has said lots of times Brady is GOAT. He’s playing a character.
If Skip was anti Brady Shannon would be a Tom fanboy.

When did Sharpe advocate that they go out of their way to hurt Brady? Football is a contact sport. Blockers make contact. The defense should make contact back. Brady should, rightfully, get trucked/lit up/get his cap peeled if he’s going to go out to block. He opens himself up to that whenever he gets in front of a runner. The QB isn't a ball carrier on a block though. Why should anyone try to intentionally hurt a blocker just because they are a QB?
Let's take the more common case, so now every OL that comes out to block should have their kneecap taken off? The intent to injure and the urge to injure is the offense in Shannon's tweet.
Even if the QB is now Lamar Jackson on an RPO for instance, there should not be an intent to injure him from the defender, just bring him to the ground with the usual force for a normal ball carrier.
