Question: Ho is I’ll you support her m

The habitual junky (sorry you can’t handle facts ) was......
GM Bill’s first solution at WR2 for multiple abbreviated seasons.
GM Bill’s second solution was a serial team wrecker
Third solution: a costly second rounder for a tortoise

Result: Brady was a 52% passer yesterday who relies on RB completions to get the % that high
Vs the worst team in football

Yup, he didn't work out positively for the Patriots. No doubt about it.

Regarding the bolded italics part - - - if you cannot see that the guy has an illness and has spent months each year in programs trying to overcome his biological problem and still cannot have an ounce of human empathy for that, then (not that it matters to you) I have only pity for you.

But, to each his own. You stay in your world, I'll gladly stay in mine.

.

Hope he can get himself in order.

Dude got plenty of chances. With the money he makes theres no reason he shouldnt have been paying as many people as possible to watch him and stop him from obtaining these drugs. I know what addiction is like because ive had to deal with my own, but if I had the money this man had I wouldve hired as many people needed to make sure that I dont relapse not to mention Gordon got 5 chances. Its insane he couldnt get it together.

I wish him the best but I cant say I really feel sorry for him. Hes had every single option available for him. I dont think he seriously wants to quit.

I hope he conquers his demons... but to all those castigating Belichick for not keeping him...

But then there will be some who point out the Pats should have never been in a position to have to rely on a repeat offender like Gordon to shore up their receiving corp in the first place...

Interesting. This time it's apparently PEDs as well as the usual substance abuse stuff.

So what do you know -- apparently unlike many geniuses here, the idiotic, clueless Bill Belichick may have had some idea that something was going on after all when he cut Gordon.

How do you know it was PEDs? I think the release may be intentionally vague so as not to reveal the exact violation.

I feel bad for the young man no matter what really happened.

If Samuel makes a catch that he makes 9/10 times or if they call an obvious hold on the tyree play we’re most likely talking about Randy’s td winning the game. A lot of what ifs on the last drive but sadly luck wasn’t with us that night.

Watching Adalius Thomas being pulled backwards away from Manning on that play was too much to bear. You'd think the refs would have some sense of history and called the blatant holding instead of giving that awful NYG team get an assist.

I'm not surprised but it's still very sad. He's been one of my favorite players throughout his entire career and I'm glad he managed to win a ring with the Patriots. Hope he gets better even though his NFL career may be done.

This. I’m here for all of the mea culpas and apologies to BB. Who is first?

The trolls never apologize. They rely on us being too happy when they're proven wrong to call them out. In this case, there's no happiness in their being wrong.

Here already went to rehab. Failed it, twice. Got signed with the Patriots, had Brady under his belt and still couldn't stay clean.

NOTHING will help this man, at this point. It's sad a reality and quite disappointing, but there's just nothing else that can be done about his disease.

He might have helped us win against the Chiefs and Texans before getting banned.

They had
Edelman
Gordon
Thomas/brown
Dorsett
Harry

in camp people were saying WR was overloaded. It’s not like Gordon was a necessity, but he became one theory a confluence of issues.

It is sad. Definitely have the empathy. This past decade has had some weird players lost to self-control issues. Justin Blackmon with alcoholism, Gordon to whatever substances he uses (is it just weed? I forget), and a more controversial one that prolly wouldn't generate much sympathy from anyone - Aldon Smith. Both an alcoholic and had an impossible time controlling his antics. But was an amazing player. You could argue his first two years had him looking better than both Miller and Watt.

I'm sure I forgot a decent bunch.

Nice to see this old thread from 2012, I mean 2013, I mean 2015, I mean 2018 revived....

Same thing happened at this time of the season last year. I liked the kid. I have said many times he has never hurt anyone but himself. This hurt may be forever when it comes to the pigskin. Hopefully he can change his life

And then there are people out there with their anectodal experience who due to a lack of empathy think anything they went through must apply to other humans.

What you went through and apparently were able to beat (kudos for that) doesnt apply to others and that doesnt make you strong and him weak.

Josh should try to play in the XFL. He'd be a force to be reckoned with, and the league is most likely not going to test for marijuana.

I don’t know what your talking about in terms of your “addiction,” but there are lots of addictions (tobacco, food, sex, etc.) that aren’t the same thing as the addiction Gordon has. His addiction is basically referred to alcoholism (though other drugs can be substituted for alcohol with the same effects and problems, which is why AA principles are used universally) and this isn’t something you can buy your way out of. Plenty of extremely rich people with everything to lose are still not able to prevent relapse. It isn’t “insane” at all to think he couldn’t keep it together because addicts like this never become “non-addicts.” They work to live a very challenging lifestyle to avoid something they are powerless over.

You don’t seriously think he wants to quit? Please don’t pretend to be an addiction beater yourself when you clearly have no clue what you’re talking about. If you really had dealt with something like this you wouldn’t be so misguided about the issue.

I said months ago that Patriots had somewhere between the best offense of all time and the worst

Best case scenario
Edelman stays healthy
Gordon goes 2013
Thomas recovers as an excellent option
Harry plays like a 1st round WR
Dorsett contributes

And then add AB... my God.

instead we got the worst case
Edelman gets hurt
Gordon falls off the wagon.
Thomas gets dumped to the Jets
Harry gets hurt
Dorsett disappears

Its almost comical. Almost

Anyone should have seen this coming after he was cut by NE. I’m surprised he lasted this long.

Regardless of the challenges he’s faced / he’s facing : Gordon isn’t reliable. In fact, he is so unreliable that it makes no sense for an NFL to spend time & ressources. I was surprise de NE brought him back. I wouldn’t have.

The guy who subjected himself to multiple month long inpatient rehabilitation centers doesn't "seriously want to quit" - you really believe that? It's truly unbelievable to you that Gordon couldn't get it together - again, you seriously think that's "insane"?

Hate to be 'that guy' but I believe that most people who have experienced significant struggles with addiction and mental health disorders (depression, anxiety, etc.) would not say what you said.

The whole notion that the only hurdle was not taking the drug(s) and could be solved with money by surrounding himself with people to physically keep him from using drugs is way off the mark in terms of describing what it's actually like to deal with addiction (and the psychological discomfort that drives it).
