Miami's Chambers to Chargers

I believe that we have sold out our games since the day Kraft bought the team. Before that the team was about to be moved to St Louis.

Actually you've sold out your home games since 96, look it up.

And during this time you had ONE season with less than 8 wins, and that was 5-11.

If you want to compare hardships, than I really am sorry to say, you guys aren't even close. You want to know how many sub .500 seasons we have had since 96?

It's funny to because in 95 you had 6 wins and were NOT sold out. Than fast forward to a year later and you have 11 wins and make it deep into the playoffs. Wow go figure, you were sold out during this time? Stop lieing and making it seem like you guys have been avid fans since they have sucked, because it's just not true.

Also obviously the chargers have bandwagon fans, the point is you guys seem to think that the Patriots don't. The fact is that you guys have had a lot more fans since you have started WINNING than when you were LOSING, which by definition is a BANDWAGON FAN.

It's also amusing to me that because your team has been good you think it gives you, the people that root for them, a sense of entitlement. Anyway I have been to New England and i've never seen a bunch of angrier people in my life, so it makes sense to see how you all act here.

I just thought i'd point out that you guys have sold out all your home games since 1996, not 1994... And in 1996 you were 11-5 and won twice in the playoffs. BANDWAGONERS? Enough said.

Chickens come home to roost.
When this Forum had several inane "LOOK AT ME" threads about how various Pats wankers were (shock!) BANNED from such-and-such team's board you knew that turnabout was iminent.

hertzc,

ALL fans are bandwagon fans to some extent. No matter how good the fans are, I doubt many teams sell out when they suck.

Of course you have to take cities where there isn't much else to do into consideration. If Kansas City averages 80% capacity in a 4-12 season and the Patriots averaged 60%, that doesn't mean we have more "Bandwagon" fans...we just have more to do (i.e. Celtics, Bruins, Boston College and an all around world class city.) around here.

IMO, the bandwagon conversation is fruitless. There is no way to measure the loyalty of a fan base. Hell, 15,000 people attend high school football games in some cities because THAT is the main attraction.

I hope I've cleared that up for you.

Wow...did that really happen here? Personally, I'm proud that our board is much more accepting of opposing fans than most others.

How those eggs doin' Mr Pissah?:D

You're right the bandwagon debate is fruitless.

The only reason I even brought it up was because one of your fans called all the charger fans bandwagoners. So I was simply telling him that, comming from a team that has had 3 superbowls very recently, calling us all bandwagon fans is ridiculous.

That won't be the last stupid argument debated on this forum...I here ya

What source did you refer to that New England did not sell out all their home games in 1994 and 1995?? My memory seems clear that the last time the Patriots did not sell out all their home games was in 1993.

And IIRC the NFL blacks out a team's home game on TV in their market if it doesn't sell out. But since the start of the 1994 season I've seen all home games broadcast on TV in Boston. Which means by logic, the Patriots must have sold out their home games since 1994.

The Patriots have sold out every game since Kraft bought the team.

From Wikipedia: "The day after the NFL approved the sale in January of 1994, Patriots fans showed their appreciation by purchasing almost 6,000 season tickets en route to selling out every game for the first time in the team's 34-year history. Every home game has been sold out since."

I know Wikipedia's not a perfect source, but you can find this on any site you want. It's well documented.

Now it wasn't just the fans, football lovers everywhere began lining up for New England Patriots tickets after the team managed to win the Super Bowl three times, once in 2001 and back to back in 2003 and 2004. This improvement has reflected in sales of New England Patriots tickets, especially on their home turf. Sales records have shown that since 1996, every single Patriots home game has been sold out.

I'm not sure how reliable this source is either, but that's where I found it.

It sucks though, after reading some of your replies to something I said earlier, I really think some of your fans ( maybe even most ) have a very high football intelligence. It's irritating though, because a lot of the fans that I see talking just seem way to hung up with the fact that they root for a good football team and feel they have the right to talk down to the fans of other teams, which just flat out isn't cool.

Wanna bet that's wrong?

Why would you think any of this matters? The Patriots had a home stadium that was universally considered the worst in the NFL and among the worst in all of sports. People choosing not to go to that stadium weren't somehow "bandwagon" fans because they hated the experience there.

This is from the official site.

Look at this paragraph from last year

SELLOUT STREAK
Today's game was the 129th consecutive home sellout for the Patriots. The streak includes preseason, regular-season and playoff games and dates back to the 1994 regular season opener. Today's game is the 47th such game at Gillette Stadium.

What's not to understand? We're fans just like NE fans. We're certainly no more moronic than NE fans.

At this point in time having been through some very lean times with the franchise, most fans who've known the Bolts a while do feel better about the team. But trust me, we're under no illusions. We know who NE is, the 3 rings they have and I, for one, definitely respect that.

I don't see anything wrong with Bolts fans sharing their perspective's on another teams forum just as I don't see anything wrong with NE fans sharing their perspective on the SD forums. I hang out on the SOSD forum not the chargers official forum. Can't speak for what's happening on the official Chargers forum but I know for certain that there are any number of NE fans who stop by the SOSD forum all the time. They're not banned. They say what they've got to say, some good some not so good, and then they mosey on. I have no problems with that. After all, all forums are ostensibly public.

The difference is that I can go to any SD site and find posts where people claim that we didn't sell out until 2001? You guys are the ones claiming all over your sites to be the "real fans".

Well, the reason that people would be claiming we are "real fans" is that we had supported the team through MANY MANY horrific seasons and very few great seasons.

It doesn't mean other teams don't have just as real of fans, it just means that we have our fair share also. To call us all bandwagoners ( which someone here did) is what set this whole thing off anyway.

You have to admit though, it's a lot harder to root for a team that isn't doing well. And San Diego sure has a long history of that, yet we still rooted for them.

As for bad stadiums, we are in that situation right now and it blows.

We can't even host a superbowl in SD until we get a new one.

Nope.

Like I said, I don't know how reliable that is. Just letting you guys know that it was something I found that is documented.

That's not what you said at all. Let me refresh your memory because you were less than flattering even though you're the one without any facts.

hertzc, I read the article carefully, and I believe the reason(s) it said that Patriots tickets were sold out since "1996" is because the writer had to make an editing decision... not sure why he didn't start at 1994 which is correct as I and other posters have stated. He also probably chose '96 because they went to the Super Bowl that year and wanted to point out that for the most part the last 11 years for the Pats have been successful overall. Your guess is as good as mine here.

Yup, guess I was wrong.

I don't see what you mean by how you base your rooting in reality. So just because you have a good team you are allowed to talk down to the other teams? That's pretty interesting, I mean, I understand that if the players want to they may have the right to because they have actually earned it, but even that would be considered what an ******* would do. So when fans do it, people who have very little to do with the actual play on the field, what do you think that makes them?

Anyway I like some of you guys, others ruin it for the whole though, i'm sure you think the same of us.

Relax. Some of us think that fans from other teams make the site more interesting. Me, I used to like the Bolts before the Pats got good and the Chaagiz as we say here got to be a threat to us.
