Patriots trade for WR Mohamed Sanu, for a second-round pick

We have a few months left, but I nominate this as the worst analysis of the year.

btw Izzo is the only TE that can actually block on the roster..

Under contract through 2021, the balance of a $3.8M cap hit this year and $6.5M for next season. + 70% catch rate. This is a good trade. Hopefully either Hooper or Eifert is on deck

Eifert would get injured on his way to the airport

Insurance policy for later in the season. I wish they would just sign AB back. Would solve all our issues.
First, Brown airs dirty laundry in public and potentially abused multiple women. Second, resigning him introduces a wishy washy element where players don't have a clear idea of cause and effect with team discipline. Third, signing him back would mean playing peekaboo with Roger across the year as to whether/when the commish would decide to put Brown on the exempt list.

And he doesn't fix everything on the field. He could help the offense, but his skills are not a magic wand for the offensive line woes.

Antonio Brown is polonium in your coffee. You get a jolt of awesomeness before you suddenly keel over dead.

My favorite part of this signing is that I have pats fans friends on my FB who post 'Islam is not a religion of peace lmao' memes to their timeline roughly ever 15 minutes and it's gonna be funny to me when they get pissed off at some point when some guy with an Irish name gets flagged for a PF against Sanu and demand the Irish guy gets fined.

The reports were that the Patriots reached out to Tampa Bay about OJ Howard and were rebuffed. Considering Arians doesn’t like Howard, I take this to mean they need a better offer. What should the Patriots be willing to trade for him?

I’m guessing TB would accept a first round pick, but the Patriots won’t pay that price for a player who hasn’t produced at a high level yet. I’m guessing TB would not accept a third round, considering Howard’s draft pedigree and market should they choose to ship him.

How about a cornerback and mid-round round pick? Would you trade Joejuan Williams or JC Jackson to get him? Gotta imagine Jackson is a highly coveted player, though he’s back to his penalty drawing ways again. I think Jackson is really good, but I also think a lot of these guys would not be as good with another team, without Gilmore and the incredible talent around them. Hard to say if Jackson is really a potential star player.

After watching Watson play last night, I'm not sure if we need another TE...he'll do just fine

I wouldn’t want to mess with the up and coming talent and depth of the CBs, myself. I don’t think it would be worth a shot at an unproven TE. I would hold off on anything more than a third, even if that means not getting the player.

What's ASJ up to?

Hope so! If he can stay healthy, I agree, it's not that bad a situation. Surprised he is still able to get separation at age 38. 49 wonderlic score and that athleticism at his age...guy is like a super human being. I thought he would suck due to his age, so I was encouraged last night.

DO NOT answer my questions with questions, pleb

You're lucky they banned dueling. You've insulted my honor, and I demand satisfaction.

If Sanu works out really well here I think he could end up being what Anquan Boldin was to the '10-'12 Ravens. When Boldin was traded there, he was 30 years old. Sanu is 30 now.

The guy has a unique combination of physical toughness, extremely strong hands, blocking ability, savviness/intelligence as a route runner, and strong leadership - much like Boldin. Rare to get a player that complete and well-rounded, let alone at the receiver position. He's going to dominate short to deep and do a lot of good work over the middle of the field.

I think he's going to be a better receiving option than any very good TE could have been, and while most TEs would be better blockers, the drop-off isn't that significant with Sanu.

He's only going to help this team and I'm sure BB/McD/Brady are all very excited to have him. I'm really pumped to see what he can do here.

He didn't look like an NFL player beyond confusions. This team needs a proper FB for January.

You definitely dont want Elandon Roberts back there in January.

You can bring two players off IR, correct? And do the Patriots now need to designate a spot to Harry since he’s practicing? Develin and Wynn seem more indispensable to the offense and are needs.

I’m actually glad we got Sanu instead of Sanders. He brings a lot more to the table for us. Epitome of a NEP.

Didja know he can throw the football about 70 yards, consider that possibility... otoh probably not going to use a 70 yard pass play...

This seems to be an typical Pats move, picking up a proven veteran from a struggling team who has a proven history of playing big.. the cost a second round draft pick. When that pick is usually in the 60's, this deal becomes even better.

Sanu has that good Rutgers pedigree that seems to fare so well in the Patriots system..

Even this year when it has been said that he was pushed out by Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley sounds like the Pats got a second rate player, but after 7 games he has played about 80% of the offensive snaps and had 33 receptions in 42 targets with one drop..

I like this move.. it seems good for the Patriots..
