Patriots Player Departure Patriots Cuts

Who returns punts?

Great question. I really don’t like exposing Edelman to injury returning punts—he takes enough hits as a receiver.

Maybe Meyers, although Phil Perry said he was a bit shaky returning punts.

“Jacobi Meyers has gotten some work as a punt returner over the last few weeks. Had a few shaky reps in Lions joint practices, but the team continued to give him looks there. If the Patriots are set on getting Julian Edelman away from that role, Meyers could help.”

Edelman has been our primary PR for years, there's no trickery involved. He can do both.

No my point is to keep him healthy...he will not be WR1, 2 or 3. That is trickery. But I was just mentioning it as a joke

I think Dorsett might end up our KR this year. That's the returner spot I consider wide open, not sure why people are worrying about the spot Julian Edelman has held down for most of a decade.

Because Jules is our most valuable offensive player outside of Brady..... and he already has an iffy thumb.....I don't need ST gunners hitting Edelman...

I don't need overzealous safeties hitting him either but it's unfortunately something that happens when he's put in a position that best helps the team win.

We have this battle very year, actually several times a year. And the result is always the same. Belichick believes that our top players should play ST's including Edelman, McCourty, Chung, Harmon and lots more.

and who is our Game Day swing OT for the first couple of games?

Did you think it was going to be Skipper after we traded for 2 different tackles days after he looked terrible on the field?

I feel like White could be a good punt returner but I don’t think he’s ever done it for us.

Doesn't mean I need to like it .

I wince on Sundays whenever Jules takes a hit...the same for Gronk, Welker, etc....

Dante is one of the very best OL coaches ever. However, it does take a couple of weeks to learn a system.

Ok....I'm just looking at who is left on the roster.

He is one of those types you'd think would be really good at it. I think every year during OTAs/early camp they give him a few reps but nothing serious.

I'm sorry to all I insulted and will take down the previous comments, and this one, if you guys think I should, but (just one Jewish man's opinion) I think there is a constant demand among my co-religionists to see one of us do well in something athletic. Nobels, we got. Lombardis, now that's impressive.

I honestly thought that Edelman was Dolphins trade-bait for a while.

Edit: and it might also be stereotyping to say that a South Florida fan-base would likely appreciate Jewish quarterbacks more than other fan-bases. In fact, where that butterfly ballot got used, this whole batch of mainly elderly Jewish residents went against type and self-interest and voted Buchanan.
Member of the tribe here. I remember my grandfather, whenever someone with a tribal name made the news, wanting to know if he/she was Jewish. Nothing wrong with showing pride in your people, or making a good natured jest.
