Nooooo

Cowart making the 53? Yessssssss

Respect to those who noticed his decline in snaps throughout PS. I admittedly didn’t want to believe it. This crow tastes delicious

Former Green Bay Packers, I guess.

Guy proved himself his last couple years in Baltimore though before landing here. Was proven that he could be more productive.

I didn't think he proved it much more than Pennel did. They were both seen as mediocre starters who might have been hindered by a slow career development and being on bad teams. Guy was not a proven stud when we signed him.

PFF had put very high marks on him. People like to say they don't trust PFF, but they kinda do trust PFF lol

I mean, they work with statistics, obviously they don't paint the whole picture, but good numbers are good numbers.

I used to go out of my way to call out anyone who cited a PFF stat but I only hear things these days about how improved PFF is so idk.

Why are you concerned about the run defense ? It means that Shelton -- who has looked very improved -- straight beat him out and Cowart has more pass rush value.

I would have preferred to keep a backup of similar build to Shelton but if Pennel isn't good enough to even fill that role there's no use in keeping him.

Danny Shelton

2015 rookie
2016 pretty good
2017 mediocre
2018 mediocre - then shows up in SB53
2019 TBD

You could argue he’s now one of the more important players on the team. If his play goes south, BB/Mayo will probably need to get out of the 3-3-5/5-2 looks.

I’m really not a fan of Danny Shelton in the Alan Branch role as it’s too important. Coaches better be on him.

Who is playing between the Gs?

I don't know but they won't keep a guy just because he is fat. If he doesn't fit the scheme or they can lose another player to keep him

Not only that there will be inevitable injuries, so we need the depth

PS. They will stash a guy like Parry or Kamalu and move on.

Barely knew the guy. All I heard is he was one of the better Jets defensive players and that he was a good signing.

Well......doesn’t say much for the Jets, does it?

There’s very few locks on this team. That’s why I don’t disagree with anyone about Thomas at wr or even Dorsett.

Oh I think he was good enough for that but just too expensive in that role.

Pennel was brought in specifically to fill that role based upon his career. We have no one to fill it now.

Maybe parry is the guy. I hope so. But we need him or someone else playing in this role every week not on the ps.
Kamala isn’t. Not for this role.

Yeah, like all statistics, there is so much data can prove, especially in a fluid game like Football

You can use it as fundation for stuff, but it is not the only thing that matters, far from it

Based upon what he has done previously in his career he would be a bargain at that price. We are probably talking roughly 400 snaps here so it’s not a minor role.

Maybe only interesting to me....

In the first decade of this dynasty, BB spent many of his premium assets (#1’s) on DL and TE.
Of late, the few premium draft picks the Pats have owned: WR, RB, OL

If Shelton beat him out and would have played the majority of those snaps then spending 5m over 2 years on a backup is too expensive.

Guy still isn’t a stud but he is a solid hard working player.

400 snaps assumes Shelton plays 500.

I'll eat crow on this one. Interesting development!

Don’t sleep on Parry. If you read the practice reports carefully, he has been sneaky good during training camp and he caught my eye last week vs. the Titans. I agree that Cowart will make the 53, but Parry could sneak in in front of Shelton, or they could keep both, if they feel that Cowart has enough versatility to play both tackle and end.

Good call brady6, what a disappointment. I was expecting him to be an upgrade from Brown

I think this is because, when BB started, the skill positions were over valued and the grunts were undervalued. BB saw this and spent the higher picks on the great d linemen and picked up running backs and wide receivers later in the draft and as free agents. Now it has swung the other way and RB's and WR's are undervalued while d linemen are overvalued, so BB is grabbing them early.
