Not too surpized...bubble guy..

Wow. I was wrong about this one. Very concerned about the run defense.
I’m hoping that it means that Parry has looked good after having gotten his life back on track. We know what we’re getting with Shelton. Another move could also be made before Week 1 (trade, scrap heap pick-up).

Some times it isn't because a player is bad, it is because other players are better.

In this case, it might be a little bit of both.

Feels like Cowart is definitely making the team now I would think. Playing with the 1's on Thursday, combined with this, and I see him cracking the 53. Which is good I think, infusing some youth into the DL is needed.
Agree on Cowart. I had him making the team.

Why are you concerned about the run defense ? It means that Shelton -- who has looked very improved -- straight beat him out and Cowart has more pass rush value.
Because we need more than one. We needed both Shelton and Pennel. Guy is best suited as outside the G DT and a guy who gets his test on run downs. Butler and Cowart are not big enough to fill that role.
If Shelton replaces brown who replaces Shelton?
We have taken a step backward at inside run D DL and we weren’t exactly good there last year.
I think it’s our biggest weakness right now and strong DT play is vital to a nickel base.

We need more beef.

Evidently BB sees a better option than Pennel......just because a player is big doesn't mean he has a good anchor..

Holy crap.

He was clearly behind Shelton.

I wonder if this opens the door for Parry?

I wonder why he wasn't successful here. Scheme?
I think he was just trash here

Honestly, in the games, he was having 0 impact, even against 3rd stringers. You can't blame scheme on that

Big boys have to walk a finicky line, too much weight they have no explosion, too thin they don't get full power, but you probably know that.

I guess we'll know for certain if he lands somewhere else and plays well, but yeah.

These DT's suddenly go south.

Alan Branch went from defensive MVP to JAG the next season.

Why were y’all so high on him?

Admittedly I bought into it after a while, but all he had was one stretch of a half season where he stuffed the run well. That’s it. Otherwise he spent years being a mediocre backup.

To me, he had a Lawrence Guy vibe to him. That is, until he stepped on a practice field.

Not only that there will be inevitable injuries, so we need the depth

I didn't like Shelton all that much (and people thought i was crazy for it lol) but it's undeniable that he looked good in the Post-season (but it couldve been him rising WITH the team only) and is looking very good in the pre-season.

I was very worried about our D-line before TC, i thought people were really underestimating Flowers' absence, but so far it seems that we got 2 players if at least good potential (Cowart and Wino) and our incumbents have been stepping up their game

Former Green Bay Packers, I guess.

Guy proved himself his last couple years in Baltimore though before landing here. Was proven that he could be more productive.

PFF had put very high marks on him. People like to say they don't trust PFF, but they kinda do trust PFF lol

I mean, they work with statistics, obviously they don't paint the whole picture, but good numbers are good numbers.

Not a big surprise, the writing's been on the wall for a while. Props to @Brady6 who was the first to spot the scribbles--a good example of trusting what we actually see happening in camp & preseason, not clinging to preconceived notions or reputations.
